New WIP (nudity)

worked on lighting more.

Here is the latest proof…I reeled in the light a little and chenged the pose. This is render with GI and final gather inside of max.

Here is a new concept. His name is Kamodo Steve. Sometimes crime doesn’t flush the first time…stay tuned…

I think I am finished with this one.

Here is my next project. Persues Slaying Medusa by Cellini. I hope I am not biting off more than I can chew!

If I may be so bold I’d suggest seeking inspiration in ancient greece. Cellini is something else, but definitely not a good source for understanding anatomy imo. Whatever you like to do is fine by me though

Cherub, thanks for your opinion. Sorry to sound stubborn, but I want to work with the Cellini. Trying to nail the accuracy in his exaggerations is an interesting challenge to me plus I want to stay within the realm of Italian Sculpture for now.

Here is where I am with the study. Cellini and his assiciates made the arms larger than usual to communicate the “hero aspect” I doubt most people know that, and will discount it as “bad” so I think I am going to go with proportional arms. I still have more posing and proportions to do.

good start on the statue, tho you say "Trying to nail the accuracy in his exaggerations is an interesting challenge to me "

then next line “Cellini and his assiciates made the arms larger than usual to communicate the “hero aspect” I doubt most people know that, and will discount it as “bad” so I think I am going to go with proportional arms” you seem to be contradicting yourself, i say if you want to do the exagerations, then do them

I agree good start on the statue. Great base so far and I like the collapsed body at the feet.

@ The arms being longer in the sculpture, it does not seem to be far off from normal proportions so it could be good practice to sculpt it as you see it and maybe later make a new layer and shorten them that way you can see both versions. Just an idea.

Looking forward to seeing more. :+1:

Looking good so far dude! Ambitious project. Can’t wait to see more.

@rhinokio thanks, you’re right, I did contradict myself. oops. I am going for the statues proportions.

@Aberrant thanks, the collapsed body is pretty intense. I think it’s the craziest pose I’ve ever tried to match!! I love the way he fit an entire figure on the base. So weird. I am taking your suggestion and sticking with the statue. thanks!

@MrT3d thanks. Been referencing certain points, locations and gesture, checking my negative space etc. I am not even going to start sculpting until I have everything properly oriented.

thanks for the comments and support!

Ok, I have a bunch of refs, but this is the first usable one I have found of the rear…and check this out!
Cellini put a hidden portrait of himself in the back of the helmet!!! I had to share because this blew my mind. I am glad I chose this sculpture. Finding this morsel just made me really excited to continue working it out.

How absolutely cool that is!

Thanks for sharing, thats awesome! I noticed it before reading your post actually. Once I took a look, the back of the head immediately resembled a face. I really like how its subtle and the hair blends as his beard. Thanks again for sharing! :+1:

Here is an update of my current project. I am still fine tuning proportions and the gesture. I have done a little anatomy work too. I haven’t made it to the feet yet. (That is next) He has a bald spot because I have not imported the helmet into ZBrush yet. Will post more as the model progresses. Thanks for looking!

I love his knee!

Pretty damn good model.

Would look good with a translucent shader for sure.

Im not sure if I like the butt on that celini sculpture (even though it is a highly skilled sculpt), i bet theres better butts than that around.

Here is an update of my progress and some of the refs that I have been using. Right now the figures are around 60K Polygons. I am feeling pretty good about the proportions and gesture at this point. I will continue to adjust as I add details.

I think this is coming along very nicely. I think you have the posing and forms fairly close. Looking forward to seeing more.

thanks for your feedback Abberant!
