new metal materials

Well, i’m enjoying ZB3 like most of you- crappy, for all of you Mac-heads:cry: -and i’m playing with the new Silo !
I lose/spend a lot of time tinkering with the MatCap materials…and as most of you i have made a lot of great looking plasic- and waxy looking materials, metals and wood materials are kinda tricky, i think you need more shaderchannels for that sort of stuff.
And i’m giving most of my ZB2 models an overhaul with the new brushes, if i decide to post it will be a material or a complete scene…got some idea’s,but i have stacks of books i must read also, and a lot of DVD’s to watch

jantim

jantim thanks so much for sharing your mats. can’t wait to use them, with credit and cudos to u of course. keep up the great work and sharing. People like you are the reason I love ZBrush and central sooo very much.:+1:

Thank you for the great Materials , thanks:+1: :+1: :+1:

Yesss!!! Thanx man, this is ultra cool:sunglasses:

Thank`s very much this is exactly what i was looking for!!!

thanx I will check them out.

I’m afraid these materials will not work very well in ZBrush 4, they were made for Zbrush 2  …the way the material settings worked is no longer the same for the newer versions of ZBrush…sorry !

jantim

Wow, what a good old thread!

If I did not 4-5 years ago, I want to thank Jantim now for these materials. Some of the old materials (combined with matcaps) still give great results.

Hey my friend, glad to see your reply on this thread. Yeah, times are changing like materials and software. It’s going fast  It comes and goes.

I´m afraid these materials looks horrible in Z-brush4, quite sad since they look AMAZING in the poictures!!! Anyway thanks Jantin for inspire us to achieve those shaders!!!

could you make these for z4? please

i wish i had read all of this thread…bizarrely the material shows up in the palette but not on the meshmat.jpg

…the material has to be’best’ rendered to show up…don’t bother it will look like crap,… like i said before it was made for ZB 2, i took pity on you, so i made a metal that can be used in ZB4

…i hope you like it…it must be rendered in the “best rederer” to look good !

jantim

!

you can render this material in the BPR…but you have to use a trick-at least on my laptop…first you do a best render, and with the render on the screen do a BPR…if you do a BPR first it will look as you can see on the picture below

A is a BPR render, B is the best render and C is the best render followed by a BPR render

Hi people, i have an issue…

For start thanks jantim for the materials, looks great but somehow in my zbrush it appear with blue color in all materials

I’m using Zbrush 4R5 and that’s maybe the problem but i would like to know if you have any solution, i didn’t change anything and only try them with a basic sphere…

This is how it look like

I’ve revived my interest in Zbrush, but they have so trashed your splendid materials! (You probably hate these posts!)
This is especially tragic as viewing of models has jumped out into the stratosphere with SketchFab. Example: (from photographs, but amazing nonetheless)

I now have SubstanceDesigner and SubstancePainter, (very steep learning curve, for me) so I guess I can cope, but what a loss!
