Great modells Nerveink!

The predator heads displace render looks excellent. The other head looks like
it is clay. I love it’s style. How did you reached this style? The maps that you used, or the brush style made this surface? Besides the ARTIST of course…

Really impressive! :+1:

Fantastic work Nerveink  I like your style and the look of your models, the details are amazing.
Could you please upload your video tutorial somewhere else because VEOH player and videos are nomore available in Bulgaria, I don’t know why.

Biser: thank you i will update the video soon.

mik76: thank you!

leisiulong: your welcome!

Bryan Wynia: thank you!

i think its been a while since ive posted. always on here on my lunch breaks though.
i had some time to add a a little more details on predator last night. i think im gonna go for broke on the subdivison levels. right now the mesh is at a little over 22 million polys but not having any lag. will post more updates soon. and will post a new shader. c and c always welcome.

Hi Nerveink,
Amazing work :+1: :+1: :+1:
I just have few questions to ask, if possible.

  1. How can I achieve small details like wrinkles without over doing them? I know that most of beginners push wrinkles very deep inside.
  2. What is the program you use to make the stereo effect on some of your 3d sculptures?

I hope you’re fine with that

Regards,

Wow, that looks really, really nice! I love the musculature on the mouth! Some more detail on the side of the neck would be nice, and what he said: how DO you get those wrinkles to pop out without over-doing them? I tend to use the clay brush to push out one end and push in the other, then smooth everything except the crease to give that wrinkle effect. Do you use the mask & push method?

chwaga: thank you. when i make the details i use an alpha brush. I place the alpha or stencil onto the mesh with the intensity set to around 12 or 13. after the alpha is placed onto the mesh i use the clay brush to sculpt areas around the wrinkles to make the wrinkles look more defined. ill post a small video soon that will explain better.

Eiad: thank you!

one great way to add small wrinkles is with alphas.there great for adding really small details that cant be achived with standard brushes. also the slah brush is really good. i dont use the pinch brush though. one thing to note is when i use an alpha or any brush for that matter i make sure i have the brush intenity set to a low level to so when i do place an alpha on the mesh it dosnt get that oatmeal look.

if your refereing to that lens distortion. its a ps filter.

ok so heres a small update. i looked at a few predator pics online and i decided to change a few things. i got rid of that long alien head part.
hope you guys like this update. i will post a vray render soon also. thanks for viewing.

Thank you for answering and I’m looking forward to that little video

do u mean like u paint the mask onto the model and then inverse it to sculpt into the wrinkles? looking forward to you vid mate :+1:

Slick sculpting man! Just an impressive model! A great example of not overdoing the detailing.

wo…nice predator hybrid man…and i just love the way you render in zbrush.

Nice predator head. Looks like you’re having lots of fun faking camera anomalies, like chromatic aberration, grain, DOF, etc.

The predator is looking better and better Carlos, really nice sculpts, can´t wait to see the next up.:+1:

I’ve searched high and low in photoshop for the effect to do that camera distortion thing, and I just can’t find it! Any pointers? Also, how do you combine a depth map with an image in photoshop to make DOF?

chwaga: go to filter, distort and select lens distortion. i just use the blur tool to make the dof effect. i dont use those depth map.

mecman: thank you! i was blown away by your 3d architectual skills. really great stuff. im glad you like my work!

dustinbrown: thank you! i guess im always trying to get that picture look. as if someone where to be in a studio and they take a pic of the model with a digital cam.

farazmobin: thanks bro, really appriciate that.

ealier i posted some screens on how i make small details.

the first pic shows me just blocking in a really simple form.
the second and third pic just shows the model being subdivided a few times.
the next two screens i am using the clay brush with no alphas selected to make the shapes look more full and keep a smooth even surface.on the fifth screen i select standard brush, the drag rectangle stroke and an alpha with intensity set to 13 and place the alpha onto the model. the last screen shows the alpha applied to the mesh, and i use the clay brush again to make those areas between the wrinkles nice and smooth again.

also here is another pred render. i think ima put this one down for a couple of days then come back with a fresh pair of eyes. thanks everyone for the comments!

Hey buddy, your sculpting style has improved a lot.like the progress on the predator so far,are u looking for the complete body.i think you should.keep it up

cool, how high is your resolution? (how many points)

I can’t seem to get enough polygons to be able to add that kind of detail without going way too high for my 3G ram, what’s your computer running on? Sadly, I don’t think they have the lens distortion filter in photoshop Elements, it came free with my tablet :D, I’m way too cheap to buy the full thing.

Brilliant work!

chwaga: hey. well right now the predator mesh is at about 21 million i think. zbrush is still running just fine. what i did was make regular subdivisons to the model till I reach a hi level my pc can handle. ( around 100,00) after that i just use the hd geometry and sculpt little pieces at a time. ive never had any crashing issues fom sculpting hi rez either. im telling you use hd geometry. it helps a lot. as far as my pc, i have a geforce 7050 board. 1 gb of ram, 8800 gt, amd dual core 5600 and windows 32 bit.
yeah you need to have real photoshop to do the lens distortion.

romilkchoprazb: thank you! im not sure if ill make a full body but im kinda leanin towards yes!

ive made a better tutorial which i will post very soon.
