she’s really cool! the thing I’m not overly keen on, personally, are the shoes - they feel like clogs atm - too whole [not sure I’m clear on that one hehe] Great job though!
Amazing model weiting for next
Thanks to everyone who has been spporting and encouraging, it really helps motivate me to finish!! Not to much further to go now! Just some tidying up to do, then rig and pose her for a final shot!
Heres where im at now! 4750 Tri, 1024 Diffuse, Specular & Normal.
That’s a pretty cool character, great textures and pose,
but i think you can smooth a bit her boobs and hips.
edit: i mean hips, and not ankles, sorry.
I did some skinning tonight, and heres a quick pose, i think i will do a couple of these before i find the right one. i also discovered shes got a bit of a bald patch on one side, doh will have to fix that up!
Im not sure if i mentioned earlier, but she is supposed to be a ballerina, so ill be going for some nice flowing poses, ill also need to rig the hands and fingers really well ( not done yet ) so i can get some nice hand gestures which are often found in ballet.
Heres the final image guys, thanks so much for all your comments and crits over the weeks!!
Really looking forward to starting a new character now!
She looks great in the images before the final one, reminds me of geena davis wen she’s rotting in bettlejuice. The arms and hands in the final image look strange to me I must say, I understand it is a ballerina pose, but the perspective and possibly pose on the arms in the final shot look strange and I prefer the earlier posing. But other than that this is really (W)o(W). Great job man
peas
im going to have to agree with phrost, awesome peice… really awesome it just needed that extra touch of love with the transpose at the end i think. i think i was kinda envisioning it to be like shes floating along feet dragging outbehind her arms outstreched to give a big zombie hug. hehehe even so great stuff man. cant wait to see what you do next! peace!
This is great, I like the shot before the final the best, because of the light from above, it creates a void below feel. The laces showed me she was floating, which I think was more wraith like.
Really enjoyed watching your progress through this thread.
Phrost: You know what man, I think your right too! DOH! But, thats it! I wont go back!!!
HenrySouth: I did try a couple of sombie poses, but i wanted to give off the dancer / ballerina feel which is what she is. So i ended up going for that, its funny alot of people have commented the same! haha! But thanks for your feedback man i really appreciate it!
Point: Thanks for your comments man, I think I agree with you as well about the lighting DOH! Argh i have a lot to learn.
Hey same here, I only learnt that today by comparing your two images, thanks.
Hey Everyone,
Im working on A winston Churchill Bust at the moment, see if i can capture his likeness. I need to do something a bit different, so I’ll see how I go! I look forward to all yoru comments and help! please punish me i need to get better!!
I plan to take him all the way to a final lit and rendered image with hair.
I thought id post my references as well - also id like to take a moment to give a shoutout to the master who made that wax sculpture of Winston ( the big reference in my ref page ) what a freak he is, that sculpture is insane!
i agree that that sculpture is insane… nice start…
monicaitt: thank you
Worked a bit more today…
its coming along really good, keep it up
really nice start,
maybe make his jaw wider, but i’m not sure of that =)
Hi man
I can see you are modeling sir. Winston. Not long time ago there have been some mini challenge on CgChain and I have decided to do exactly the same thing Model Winston and try to make a bust similar to the original reference…
I have to say that its really hard to capture the likenes of a real person but you are doing GREAT! I cant wait to see it final
If you want to look my Winston you can look
HERE
Looking forward to see more of you
See ya
nightwoodwolf: thanks! i hope i can!!
jocz: Thanks!!
Tomas.Kral: dduuudde thats awesome i love it! haha! Thanks for the comments ill try to capture him as well as possible!
Nice bust, coming along great. As mentioned before, I, too, think you might want to play a little with the width of the jaws. The way it is now it reminds me a slight bit more of The Thing from the Fantastic Four (from the movie version, when you see the actor, not the real ‘thing’), at least in the first picture you showed. Also, take another look on the right (left from the old guy’s perspective) face, that jawline that goes from the nose to the upper-right of the lips is a bit off compared to the pictures you posted of him.
I think it might be that in the original pictures it seems that the entire mouth region of Mr.Churchill is laid back a bit compared to the rest of the face, which makes the jaws overlap. In your model however, the lips seem to have the same z-value as the jaws, and to create that jaw-line fall-off (please ignore my horrible english, I’ve never before had to describe facial features :D) you pushed the edge into the head instead of pushing the entire mouth region into the head and pulling the lips out a bit again… does that make sense? Maybe try to think of that hideous alien Lando was piloting the Millenium Falcon with in the 6th Star Wars movie…
