my sketchbook

hello there,

this is my first post here at ZBC. And like everyone, I would like to improve my skills, so I thought I should start a sketchbook to get some feedback from more skilled eyes.
I’ve been using Zbrush for a little more than a year now, although due to my studies and my job (which unfortunately don’t have anything to do with this), I don’t get as much z-time as I would like to. Nonetheless, I’ve still been coming to this forum almost every day to look at all the magnificent work that’s been done by everyone. Very inspiring!

Okay, here is some of the stuff I’ve done so far.

C&C are very welcome.

“Pawuki”

made this one after a concept by a good friend of mine. It’s still a wip, tho I have lots of other stuff I want to focus on for now. But maybe someday, I’ll give this guy a nice texture and fur like in the original…

So, I guess this is it for now. Hope you guys like them.

thanks :).

The Myr really caught my eye, as Mirrodin was the last block of MTG that I played!

I can’t wait to see your final on him.

For the crits I CAN give: his chest seems too bulky compared to most of the card art, and his head a little too small.

hey there.
i really like your work! especially the fishing frog. nice concepts and sculpts in here. :+1:

keep it up

Fascinante la rana y el muñeco de tela. Me encantan estos trabajos. Quisiera algun dia hacer este tipo de trabajos.
Gracias por compartir.

hey guys, thanks for the nice comments! mucho appreash

just came back from a little vacation, so I haven’t really done much this week. I did have a couple hours today, which I spent on the Myr. So, here’s a little update.
I tried to refine his chest, made it a little less bulky as you suggested and also scaled up the head a bit. I also did some more work on the thighs and made them look more mechanical.
I decided to leave the arms and hands for now and started to clean up the mesh of the torso (back side) and head…

Another little update. Did some more work on the chest/torso. Hope you guys like it

almost done with the torso. some of the edges still need refinement, but overall Im pretty satisfied with how it looks so far.

okay, finally had time to continue today. started cleaning up the legs and other parts of the torso.

I wish I had more time for this at the moment. oh well. but it’s a lot of fun and I’m starting to really like hard surface sculpting in zbrush…

oh and, C&C still welcome

a quick sketch in between for a change of pace :). just the basic shape still…

Decided to give this guy a little more attention. mainly worked on the shell. The dial was made in shadowbox.
hope you guys like it

A few screen grabs of the current state. I think I’m mostly done with the shell. next one on the list is the snail…

C&C are always welcome

love the shell, how did you make the stridations texture on shell? Nice one!

Love the denden-mushi.

thanks guys, glad you like it

@d100763 I made the striation using the Slash1 brush at a low Z Intensity.

A quick render of the current state. haven’t really had much time to work on it…

hope you guys like it

A few screen grabs of different angles…

lol, good work

LOL NICE!!! Man I miss rotary phones :frowning:

I want one! I love snails! Great work, very original!

Thanks for the comments guys. I’m glad you like it.

These snails are actually from the tv series OnePiece where they use them as phones to communicate. And the snails copy the emotions and expressions from the person on the other line…

I’ve already worked on this one a bit too long, so I decided to render out a few passes in Zbrush and then edit and composite them in PS.

Here is the result. Comments and Crits are always welcome.
