My Journey Begins Here

Mytholon, I’ve been watching this forum for 6 years. It’s certainly come a long way and the standard of work has reached a point of continuous excellence.

However…

I’ve just come across this thread and in a way I wish I didn’t yet but I have and I can’t help to comment. I’ve really enjoyed your wonderful draughtsmanship from the very first post of yours.

By the time I got to the end of the first page I knew I just wanted to look at it all in one go so I have opened 16 tabs in my browser which I have only briefly seen, before I savour them in detail let me please say this…even though I’m not normally given to overly effusive responses…

This is without any doubt the most awe inpiring, life affirming, hilarious, wonderful, exhilirating, stupendous, monumental, peerless, beautifully draghted piece of work I could ever have hoped to see.

Thank you for being alive.

PS have you seen the Haindl Tarot?

Here I cheated a bit. I used the model of the Magician card for the priest, and I am going to use my old version of the Fool model for the Magician. I just added a generic posable Zsphere hand model I created, to the body.

dogbone, thank you for such encouraging words! I think you overestimate my skills, but the complements sound good to me anyway

I don’t think being intelligent and making use of available resources is cheating. In fact it’s one of those talents always looked for in people.

everything looks great and all, but… is that zsphere hand made in zbrush 2.0? the reason i ask is it doesn’t look like it, looks more like 2.5 or 3.0 version of zbrush… you know…? there’s a zsphere coming from inside the rist, and the knuckles zone is wierd too… or is it just me? problably a stupid question, but…

There is only one card left to do!

Jason: I couldn’t agree more! That is one of the things I love about Zbrush; the ability to create libraries of recyclable tools, thus accelerating the creative process by a hundredfold.

JorgeCCastro: I wish!!! No man, this is just ZBrush 2. The hand model is created for unified skinning, and that allows for great freedom in Zsphere placement (but it results in really bad topology. So, definitely not a good method if you are planning to animate).

U have a very unique style! i am very impressed. How long does it take u to make a card??

very good !!!

Finally! The last card theme is done. Now I have almost all the background details I need to composite in my image. There is just one model left to do, for the front architecture.

zzw-weini: Thanks

meletis: Those card characters and objects will be just background details in my image of the Tarot world. So they are made in a fast and dirty but time efficient way. Each takes less than an hour to do (including texturing, rendering and presentation).
The protagonist (my final Fool character model) took 3 to 4 hours to do.

It will be SO exciting to see it come together! Go on, go on, go on! :+1: :grimacing:

As I strated to composite the card elements into my final image, I counted only 21 Major Arcana themes. So the Star was not my last background model after all. I had to model one more: the World. Since I’ve had it with all this modeling, this last card was created in a very quick and dirty way, utilizing some of the elements I used in other cards, such as the Challice and the Sword.

Those are quick models for primitives (spheres and cylinders), created as background details.

Wonderful work! Thanks for sharing (and glad MM is useful!).

Thanks for taking us along on the journey! Great progress!

This is the first compositing test, basically to see that all 22 Tarot card themes are included in the composition. This was created in layers, and then flattened to generate a Zdepth Alpha. I have paid no attention to lights or textures yet…

lemonnado: Thanks!

marcus_civis: Thank you for Marker Master! The Emperor, Empress, Charriot, World, Priestess and Sword card themes would have been a great pain without your excellent plug in.

…piece! :+1:
(What is the final size? )

I love the depth that’s in this composition. Very clever how all those cards are put visibly into the image without really cluttering the view. Really masterfull!

as a tarot fan i found it very cool it really seem to have an history in this picture

Wow, this is something! What a great depiction of the theme!
Lemo

I agree, and a stunning sense of depth. It’s great to see illustration work as good as this at ZBC.

Gran trabajo, en especial esta última composición.:+1: :+1: :+1:
