Great… I like this one… one question… the sub tools, do you merge them before creatint the STL file, or is it not necessary? MiniMagics gives these as a problem…

Regards Ziggy…

PS… I am still struggeling to find someone local to do mine for me…

yea i merge all visable and then decimate the whole lot and then export as STL and OBJ

only problems you get is having somthing called shells. but magics (the full version of mini magics) fixes this. so its not a problem for most printers

Very nice works man

do you have any problem with tickness and holes ?
I have one client that always ask me to put more tickness in my models and I never had one good option for him.

keep rocking!!!
Regards
wev

cheers for the comments guys

@wev3d
thicknesses is somthing i ocasionaly get problems with. usuauly around the edges to which my solution has been to run zspheres around the edge to create a strengthening ring.

holes isnt somthing ive had a problem with if only becasue i rarly import geometry any more. and any holes i create in zbrush i can fix in zbrush,

hope that helps

:+1: very nice work man, I’d love to see more skull jewelry from you :+1:

BACK FROM LONDON…LIKE A BOSS

was fantastic ill post a detailed account once awake… XP

and ide liek to extend my thanks to the member of Zbrush who came and visitied me at IJL was AWESOME!!!

pics to follow

Well probably the best way to sum up the 4 days in london at IJL is to sightthe editorial written about me in the daily magazine that was handed out at theshow.

The Mouse goes from animator to Jewellery Maker

Not too many newly established jewellery designers can citeRene lalique and GTA as possible influences, but jewellery designer - maker andfirst time IJL exhibitor Morgan Morey’s story is a slightly unusual one

The Designer, who set up his new jewellery business TheMouse Jeweller at home on the <st1:pIsle of Wight</st1<img>lace just 3 months ago, was all set for a career in computer games animation beforedoing a complete career shift and turning his creative skills to jewellery.Handily the designer’s parents are jewellers by trade.

ā€œI i trained as a games designer, but i changed mypath. My work harks back to the time when jewellery was insanely detailed anddone by handā€.

Morgan’s work which is almost fantastical in appearancestands out among CAD designed pieces for its flowing shapes and intense detail;indeed he calls himself a CAD Sculptor.

So yea that basically sums up how my work was received. ^_^’ probably the best bits were When i had Marcus from pixologic come and say hi. the mass loads of people coming away from my stand with the look of ā€œok now i could do this project with himā€, and even having osme of the larger CADCAM jewellery players like niagra falls and weston bemor casting sending me work their in house CADers couldnt do. i even got a small order of pieces for a retail shop, and i think what i found most intresting is that there are more zbrush jewellers out there and already established just not on this forum, it was realy intresting to meet a few and see thier work

the atmosphere there was fantasic too, every one busy with the bustle of jewellery, glad my dad came along too as there were some technical jewellery questions i had no clue to. we also made good freinds with the other exhabitors next to us so all in all… im so doing it next year …

BIGGER :rage:

ill post more photos as they come. :slight_smile:img019.jpg

searously i think mine just exploded…

why? ill tell you why… just installed new zbrush and ive started playing with the new features. searously guys if your umming and arring about installing it… DO IT NOW ITS AWESOME. in 20 mins its left me with wonder and awe in my heart and a brain that is all over the wall.

DYNAMIC mesh if you havnt tryed it yet you must its just impossable. especaly for my jewellery. i mean ill be able to just draw in stone settings without dicking around with alphas and stretching geometry or diffrent subtools…

below is the first 20 mins ive spent using the new version. nothing specal but to me it realy opens doors again as to what can be done O.o

wow.jpg

well its been a while since i posted here. cheifly because ive been very very busy with creating jewellery for other people… most of which make me sign NDA’s so i couldnt post the images up here.

however i have now had a little time to show you somthing which is a mixture of nice design and a fantastic technical acheivement which has come about though zbrushes new dynamesh technologie. its called Pave setting

the images attached to this post show one of my experimental pieces in this practice. now pave setting the practice of putting as many stones on a surface as possable and as close to eachother as possable so you can imagin it is a pain to do in most programs that dont have some kind of automatic builder. the process involves creating grains (the bits that hold the stone in place) and the holes that the stones sit in, which idealy should go all the way through the piece for light and easy cleaning.

so after much fiddeling you see the products of my labors. i will make an effort to post a much more detailed tutorail on how i do this but in the mean time enjoy the tigery goodness. :smiley:tiger2.jpgZBrush Document.jpg

Hi Morgan,

Did you render diamonds in zbrush? If so can you please share your settings? I am trying to find how to render diamond for a long time. By the way keep up the good work.

The work on display is stunning. I was hoping you could shed some light on some information I’m missing. As part of my Uni course I will soon be attempting to sculpt a ring for my daughter. One thing that I’m worried about is how you get the size of the ring so precise. If you have any info regarding specifying ring sizes before you start that would be great (I use Maya and ZBrush). Say you wanted to sculpt a ring that needed to be a size ā€˜M’ for example. How do you begin? Do you also have to take into account shrinkage with the wax model or the casting?

Sorry for all the questions, but it looks like you’re the guy to ask!

Looking forward to seeing more of your work soon. Cheers. :+1:

i do apologise for not getting back to you sooner. the ring size i generaly work out by measuring the internal diameter of the ring and then using this chart http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ring_size. i scale it to the desired size. if you only have zbrush then the easiest way is to export the file as an STL. download mini magics http://www.materialise.com/MiniMagics then measure using its tools and adjust acordingly.

as for shrinkage depending on the production method i add 2% for a one off production and a 7-10% shrinkage for masters where they will be recast again as you have to compensate for 2 sets of cast shrink.

hope this helps… if you need more information email me at [email protected]

My fellow Zbrush artists. below is a little ring i created for a student who is now learning how to use zbrush for her own jewellery … so proud:D. which brings me onto an idea… >> maybe i should put up tutorials on how to do this, spasificaly aimed at jewellers << … any way hope you like the ring.
