Mosley Harmless Sketchbook

Most interesting and beautifull!
Is it mostly the claybuildup brush?
And the smoke? just apending an extra ball?

you have come far as a sculptor, i love this fire place piece. very good expression and presentaion.

Love it. The concept is really nice too.

love the clay style. very nice propotions and facial expression. He looks kinda sad, lonely and forgotten.

Love it. The character and the style work great

Thank you all for your kinds words, I really appreciate it!

@Jake Rupert:
It’s mostly the clay tubes brush with a custom alpha. Focal shift is set to 0.

Trim dynamic with the same alpha to control the surface a bit, focal shift also set to 0, Z-Intensity is at 100. You can also press alt with trim dynamic to build up the surface in a more subtle way.

Really nice sculpt. Looks like a real clay has been used. What render do you use?

Thank you Vlad. I used Blender Cycles for the render. It’s a mix shader of 70% diffuse / 20% gloss, with gloss at 0.2 roughness.
I like to experiment with the settings though so it’s a little different every time.

Great. Thanks for the insides. I have never used Blended. Maybe I should give it a try.

Dynamesh + Cycles.

Really good one.

last work is great.

Mosley, digging this thread. Very cool Clay style work…:slight_smile: Was curious about your exporting into Blender as to whether you are decimating your mesh or Zremeshing it. Wondering how many poly’s Blender can handle. You are probably on a 64bit machine. I’m on a 32bit system…

@remcv8

thank you, glad you’re liking it. I’m on win7 64bit yes. For the clay sketches I do everthing in dynamesh, then if I have
multiple subtools > merge visible. After that I decimate to about 350k. To export I use this: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?127419-GoB-an-unofficial-GoZ-for-Blender

On my end Blender starts lagging at about 500k total, whereas 8+ million per subtool in ZBrush doesn’t give me any problems, so there’s some voodoo magic going on there.
Either way it’s dynamesh > decimate > export > render. I prefer to keep things simple, especially for sketches.

Thanks Mosley, good info. I will see if I can bring in a few meshes and see what limitations I have…:slight_smile:

A work in progress.
