This is just what I was hoping for! (I wrote a post to that effect just a couple weeks ago.) It will be really interesting to see if Decimator can make a hard-surface mesh that’s friendly enough for use in other programs.
Of course, soon we won’t NEED anything else! What amazing new features!
Now, as soon as I get my new Mac…
THANKS!
Yeah, I noticed that too. Will wonders never cease.
Awesome stuff. I can’t wait !
Pixologic is the best innovative company !
OMG
Gonna Commit suicide out of happiness…love u pixologic…bravo.
Oh come on !! Another brush type with modifiers ! You are really pushing an old timer from giving up his trusted Standard, Smooth and Move brushes Flatten brush looks incredibly cool. EDIT: Sorry, Planar brush.
Must spend more time ZBrushing. Must spend more time ZBrushing…
I wish you all the best for a successful launch and big thumbs up for the new ZSpheres II
okay so the intitial wow of the video is still buzzing but thinking a bit more clearly about the features…
I think something like a dirty reyes approach is way possible now in zbrush…
mask by caviity…invert mask…blur mask…
apply procedural noise dirt to all your nooks and crannys.
that is going to make doing environmental art alot of fun.
Also…i have worked quite a bit with procedural textures. I beleive the video just touched on it but using procedural polypainting to texture will be big. coul
…
I am just keeping my fingers crossed that the zpheres stay intacked even after skinning. So that the skinned model is already rigged.
What u guys think?
Yeah it definitely appears Pixo has given us an advanced 21st century version of MetaReyes with ZSpheres and a advanced type DirtyReyes with noise procedurals. Though the Reyes plugins are really old scholl, back in the early 3dsmax days But what great stuff those plugins were!
Hehehe, I was thinking yesterday that I should post something about some kind of planar brush in the wishlist thread. This is freaking great
Incredible!!!
More Intuitive than ever!!!
I’m curious to know if any or all of the recent Plug-ins will be integrated into the 3.5 or 4 update and if there will be improvements to those Plug-ins???
I’m kinda hoping for Layer improvements in Paint-Stop as well as Symmetry and Radial Paint features to boot. Also wondering if Paint-Stop will be our Z-App Link solution at some point.
Will Decimation Master be integrated as well as Sub-Tool Master???
Will there be improvements to the rendering engine or possibly an outside renderer???
Are the new updates going to cost us more memory to run??? I know that Pixologic has mastered the ability to conserve memory and still function in high resolution.
I’m seeing that with Go-Z, there might not be a reason to retopologize your high res meshes. That, when you transfer them over to your 3D app via Go-Z, it’s automatic.
Am I Dreaming???
I can’t wait to play!!!
Nice work guys! Wish the UI got some love. Oh well cant have it all.
Theres only so many Hours in the day, and when you need to work with developers to help you test/develop support for their apps, it takes time.
Well, it seems that there are two kinds of Zspheres now: bones and then the mass you build around them. Since you can already build a ZSphere rig, it only makes sense that the bones stay linked to the skinned model for posing. I’m sure you can adjust the rig on the fly.
This is exciting stuff! Volumetric ZSphere sculpting! I’m amazed at how they freely connect, allowing you to create amazing forms before ever creating a mesh.
I’m still baffled about one thing though. It clearly looks like the guy straight broke out the hard surface brushes on the ZSpheres without skinning. I need answers here! Can you do that :qu:
yah that makes sense james. I would hope they keep the rig. Even though rigging is so easy in zbrush already…i am just lazy. I wish it was always just there.
As far as the harsurface rock sculpt. There is a a definate edit in the video. Look at the right side and u can see a UI pop. I am sure he converts to skin.
Alot of people on the boards have been talking about booleans. I am almost positive they are in. They would have to be with all these new tools. Remember all the info they gave on the 3.5 posts. It said that you would be able to merge subtools together and weld seams. This is a HUGE statment. That to me says that you could plop holes in objects. I perhaps with a fliped faces sub tool? That would be tedious as hell. But I am hoping for someway to boolean.
Oh, trust me I know. But I’d be lying if I said I was happy to hear GoZ was delayed wouldn’t I?
wasn’t trying to be snarky or anything, just that GoZ is pretty much the one feature I’m looking forward to in Z3.5 and now it’s pushed back. Sucks, but that’s life I guess.
edit: and I was being snarky about the videos being cheesy. sounds like they’re directed and written by self-help authors heheh
…bad
Aren’t we all!
Ah yes, the rock sculpt is definitely skinned. I’m referring to the first one, the space ship or whatever. You can clearly see the ZSphere chains when he starts using the hard surface planar brushes. In the rock sculpt, when it is skinned, you cannot see the chains, it’s smooth. I’ve also yet to see a skinning demonstration where the chains of spheres are still visible. Plus, you only see him change the material, there is no UI pop on the right during the ship demo.
I mean, how much more awesome can you get? Could it be? Volumetric Zsphere hard surface sculpting prior to skinning?!? I seriously doubt that’s the case, but it just caught my attention as different than the skinning. Either way, it looks damn cool!
those guys have brains out of this universe …lucky for us hehehehe
I have a feeling sometime soon, Zbrush will be the only 3dapp you will need.
I could definitely see some sort of animations tools coming. Maybe not in Z4, but that would be great if it was. You would think they could get some better render engine such as Mental Ray or is that exclusive to Autodesk?
FYI: the hard surface tools look awesome.
