Don’t let comments like Bas’ get you down skullbeast. Just remember that people who don’t add anything to help improve, and just hate, are as worthless as their comments.
Ya don’t let “Tony Robbins” there get to you.

Scroll the last one up and down on the screen…the wings seem to open and close:eek: Works better with a wheelmouse.
Poor Gedney.
Yeah, wheelmouse works great with the “wings”. Would be good to see the critter animated.
It is so refreshing that a long standing and honored guy like BAZ has a comment that is not politically correct so to speak.
He may be right - he may be wrong - he may have had a bad day - who knows and actually “SO WHAT!!!”
You got to have a thicker skin in this world not to get creamed by a few words whether appropriate or not and I feel that suggesting “knocking someone’s teeth out” is an action of a mature person is questionable as well.
So get a grip - enjoy making your little monsters and move on.
I like that monster even if it is a bit cliched.
This forum is full of stuff that would be shot to pieces in an art school environment on all sorts of grounds ie Art History, Form, Composition, Communication and just basic bad taste etc. That is the problem with an unstructured and non-guided environemnt but it has its up side too.
For example it is good that there is a freedom of approach here but it is heavily influenced by game development and adolescent imagery and the film industry etc.
One thing that this forum needs and has done so for a long time is to open it up without moderation and censorship and let the chips fly - but that is too much to expect from the anally retentive Californian mentality of the ZBRUSH heirarchy. It is very amusing to see the narrow band thinking in their approach.
So all have a nice XMAS and have a few blood boiling arguments because it’s good for the soul and the mind.
Nice work. I just finished listening to volume 2 of “The Dark Worlds of H.P. Lovecraft” and this sucked me right back into his world. I need some of these guys on my shelves for Christmas!
Thanks guys!
Bryan-Wayne June is the best!
Play time… I took a little break even though I was almost finished.
3 hours in for the first, about another 45 minutes for the others. base meshes done in modo. I’m not sure about the scales I am going more catfish-ish instead.

Looking great, man. Makes me want to read At the Mountains of Madness again
I own that Barlowe book that one of your references came from, it’s and oldie by goldie.

dustinbrown-thanks! it is an awfully weird looking beastie unless you have read “at the mountains of madness”. That Barlowe alien book is one of my favorites!
Here is another classic in the works. Cthulhu. (it feels like my 20th version) the wings are next. Base meshes were done in modo. Inspired by Carlos! I may hop into that superhero challenge so the old “great one” may get left out in the bleachers for a while…

Cthulhu should be a little “slushier” (biceps?)…
Great start–I like the eyes version. Happy New.
markkens - Now that you pointed that out the biceps are screaming at me. I’ll do some break up across the surface. Thanks and “happy new year” to you as well! I am buying into the eyes also.
Lovecraft’s original sketch
wow, I love your interpretation of cthulhu. great work
testure - thanks!

I’m going to nitpick a little, I hope you don’t mind He looks big, dense, and heavy, which is great, but I don’t believe his wings could get him off the ground. Not enough surface area to them. You may be perfectly happy to ignore this, but I always try to think of things from an evolutionary perspective. But who knows, maybe the Old One is like a chicken: winged yet grounded
I honestly can’t recall if the story has them flying around or not.
Speaking of winged yet grounded, you should make one of those giant, freaky penguins from the book next.
Cheers,
-Dustin
I do agree. I tweaked them out a bit more.
updated wings
The Call of Cthulhu video game art always impressed me when I first saw it, so I at least recognize the name of this one. Maybe its more recognizable humanoid form also make this one of my favourites so far. I’m interested to see what kind of superhero you come up with.
Thanks point!
here is a photoshop sketch (15 min) for another idea… based on a silhouette I saw.
Excellent as per usuall…These are startin to scare me:):)…
Who’s the father?
