Hey ISK, thanks so much for the render info ! You may find it simple, but: drawing Mickey Mouse is simple too, inventing him is something else… . Thanks so much! Lookin’ forward to your next worx!
When you say channel shift, are you referring to the Filter>Distort>Lens Correction…?
I understand the Lens Blur allows you to use an alpha channel or layer mask for the blur ammount, so here you would use your z-depth pass to controll that right?
Are you using the Lens Blur to get the chromatic aberrations(red and blue color bleed)? Or is Lens Blur used this for your DOF blur, blurring each channel individually?
Sorry for all the questions, I am trying to re-create the effect in photoshop with a test render with z depth but cant seem to find the right way.
I kept playing around and I think you simply use your depth pass as the intensity for the lens blur, and then you apply that to each color channel with different values and it does another version of chromatic aberrations, also found under Filter>Distort>Lens Correction…
Thanks again for the info, I believe I achieved your effect and its a great alternative method.
Aberrant:
I don´t use DOF pass… it’s just… way too unreal (I used to make photograps…)
I usually make a gradient (G tool) and use that as the source of my DOF
Yes, I use it for each channel, changing the blur intensity for each channel
Edit: I also use sometimes the mia_bokeh_lens for my camera… but it takes ages to render
No comments for this… sculpted in zbrush, overpainted with painter

Great new models. They look like they were made of real clay.
Quick sketch… rendered in zbrush, posts in photoshop
I’m not afraid of martians… :(
He´s looking friendly but also a little bit sneaky. Better be careful.
Great work again!
This is how I like to work my render layers… it’s not THE way to do it, but I think it works
First of all, the diffuse and Occlusion layers… I like to use this diffuse to make an overall ambient pass, with the occlussion to solve details as a Multiply; so I can tweak the ambience.
After that, it’s all tweaking, trial and error until it looks nice for me… sometimes I apply a Lens Blur for depth of field.

great looking piece man… glad to see your process a little
Epidemic disease in mexico, the schools are closed, and all the massive events cancelled… there is still no vaccine.
The people walks covering their mouths, there is an ambience of despair in the eyes of everyone, the drugstores ran out of supplies and the government has accepted to be useless to confront this crisis…
60 people have died and almost one thousand are declared infected… 10,000 people estimated infected just in mexico city, where I live.
The only thing I can make is continue as if nothing was happening and pray everyday

Hey ISK, Things aren’t looking very good right now in Mexico… watch out for you and your family man! Maybe it’s not so bad if you can sculpt from time to time, might take your mind of the worries a bit. New posts are lookin’ good, thanks for the render layer breakdown .
Take care -keep us informed-

i’m sorry to hear about everything happening down in mexico right now man… i wish you and your family the best of luck and health during this time.
Mexico city is a ghost town, people is afraid to go outside their homes. For first time in it’s history it is absolutley clean. Clean of trash, clean of vagabonds, prostitutes and even thieves, but almost clean of commercial activity. The city I live in (sometimes called Mexico’s city bedroom) is in the same state: People is afraid, working and traveling every day to mexico city.
Schools are closed in all the country. Rumours are traveling faster than pixologic’s contests…
In my city the view is impressing, almost everyone wears surgical masks and latex gloves, the stores are closed and the whole city is becoming a ghost town just like mexico city.
Some friends are sick, but it’s not the H1N1.
God bless the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, who taught me through all my life to be prepared to cases like this.
I am calm, if the worse happens, we have some food stored, drinking water and water for cleaning.
Something beautiful about this, this photo I found on Internet: Mexico’s city Metro, where you can sleep standing up because the people around you won’t let you fall, empty.

i wish you all the best!
Everything will be fine.
So far thats how it looks however
keep up the great work as long as electricity is there
Wish you all the best, too and stay in the house with your family.
Keep on Zbrushing.
I know it is serious but the why you have written it and others reply’s sounds like what people would say to each other if a zombie Apocalypse came along.
Hope all is well for you
