The Nook’ol is a creature that lives in the mayan jungle, it’s as big as a Jaguar, and its capable of eating a man in a single bite. His aspect is decieving, because its really fast and agile, being able of jumping from tree to tree and devouring it´s prey.
It’s really difficult to hunt, because it´s soft body can survive even the most fierce impacts from it´s enemies. It fears spiders’ venom.

It likes to rest in the swamps where it´s translucent body makes him almost imperceptible.

Feeds on fishes, medium sized mammals, and almost everything that moves, one Nook’ol is a fierce opponent. It’s believed that a swarm of nook’ol caused the ancient mayan culture to disappear

I feel in his shoes… err… tentacles… an artist struggling to get some attention. Here in mexico, all the “artists” are stupid tv actors, and trashy garage band musicians… there are no recognized painters, sculpters, classic musicians…

So… in a evening of boredom I decided to sculpt him

Good stuff, you captured squidward well! I like his character, and everyone on spongebob haha. Im 23 and I still love that cartoon. :+1:

For months I tried to render meshes from zbrush with all the details into maya… but displacement maps always left me some things I didn’t like… I ran out of hd space from exporting extreme hires meshes (some made from 10 or more subtools with 1 - 2 million poly). Then i would decimate them with meshlab and render them in maya.

But now pixo’s got it´s own decimator :smiley:

Here’s a first test render with a decimated mesh… and irradiance particles with mental ray.

Hi ISK, man, that latest render is so good: great concept, great sculpt, awesome render and presentation (by presentation I mean: the way you make a light/dark composition with the light set-up, camera angle and framing).

It’s good to see you’re such a big fan of Spongebob … :roll_eyes: …, squidward looks great, hope you’re gonna’ do some more because you’re style ads an extra dimension to it.

A lot of time since my last update… Just got some work to do, nothing important…

Playing around a little with a basemesh i did in maya… I had almost forgotten how to make those without zbrush’s retopo :rolleyes:

Took me an hour or two (the basemesh) the face ist’t finished for me… :confused:
