I’m hoping all future upgrades of ZBRUSH will be free if you have a license.
How do find this post on youtube? I want to see.
New Macbook Pro on the way, Zbrush 4R2 on it’s way, oh my.
great!!!
Well… really…It’s more like being offered free cookies, but they won’t tell you what’s in the cookies, until right before they open the bag. So you’re waiting for the cookie goodness, but when they give you some, they’re like “oh BTW they’re peanut butter”, and you’re like “crap! I’m allergic to peanuts…”.
Now I’m not saying anyone’s going to be allergic to Z4 r2 , but it can be frustrating to get your hopes up for new features that you’d like to see, or you’ve misinterpreted something you’ve seen in the previews as something else… Then when the big moment comes, even though it may still be great, you don’t get what you thought you were getting.
Personally I’m looking forward to whatever pixologic gives us.
“Personally I’m looking forward to whatever pixologic gives us.”
Exactly! Just as I said. Free cookies, what milk? All that other stuff you said, well…personally, I feel that all of that said can be filed under my “Don’t borrow trouble from tomorrow” philosophy (I mean no offense by saying this). So, I do understand that I am in my own head space about everything. I just don’t see the need for certain things (drama, politics, App feuds, and the like). See, I won Z in a contest almost a decade ago. Not only was that version free for me but, based off of Pixologic’s way of existing, I haven’t had to pay for any upgrades since! That is the basis of why I have always tried (since month one at ZBC) {/!NOTE POST DATE & JOIN DATE!/} to give back as much as I can to this community, for this community, with this community.
So yeah, fault me for living in a world of Free Z and those thom are lost in the subtle ramification that amount to nothing when considering the truckloads of money saved by Pixologic’s “Upgrade philosophy!”
Reminds me, in my experience, of only one other company!
For me, after so many years, would be in debt of upgrade costs of the thousands! Unlike (no matter their age and/or their yearly existence) Maya, Max, C4D, XSI, Lightwave, Vue, Mudbox, and 3Dcoat.
See, I get my perspective is my own. I do believe though that there are certain principles that should be followed anyway…but once again, these are my beliefs.
It’s like Zeddicus. Buddy I wasn’t targeting you in my statement. I don’t straight out flame or attack. I might have done that in my youth but now I feel it’s rude, bad form, and bad karma (once again, my beliefs). Hope this clears me up.
No matter what I am excited! I just got my new
laptop and an intuos4! I’m set up for this release!

This is gonna be AWESOME!

Thanks for your contributions MTB!
You are not alone in your “beliefs” on ZBrush.
I’m eagerly awaiting it myself. I can’t wait for my freebie!
Thank you and you’re welcome!
It’s what I do!
It’s what Pixologic does…
…and I, too, am wicked excited!
4 more days!

Ok the upgrade is cool but you want to know what will make it better
how about some free savable FREAKING SWATCHES so I can polypaint with out an headache Thanks keep up the good work
I think the problem here is that you are expecting something in particular, something maybe you saw in another program or maybe it could be a big improvement like 64 bit etc…I think thats logic but this way of thinking can only bring frustration.
to continue with the “cookies” example… it´s like you are expecting some chocolate cookies and you open the box and it´s just a time machine , a pair of bionic wings that let you fly and a ferrari.
I understand your feelings because I think every user of zbrush have a list of suggestions, I do too. But I trust these guys from pixologic can see what is really important and don´t forget that zbrush is a tool made for artists, so creativity is the real target.
So… Being able to sculp without worrying at all by topology with our actual amazing brushes is not just like any other little improvement i think it´s trully revolucionary if you measure it in terms of creativity.
I might have missed it somewhere along the line. Do we know for certain that “Dynamesh” is creating quads and not tri’s? I know Dr. Peter had the auto-retopo for Sculptris, so we’re all hoping that it will be in Z4R2, but has this been stated anywhere for sure?
“allergic to peanuts” hahaha you made me laugh but I have to admit that your post was one of the most idiotic I’ve ever read
Everyone uses Zbrush for different reasons, some for artistic fun, some within a full production pipeline, and even within that there are different usages.
For instance sculpting freely on virtual clay for concept illustration sculpts requires little to no topology, where as for those who use Zbrush for animation ready models, the retopology tools are essential if they are starting from a bog standard base mesh, or haven’t got other apps to fill the gap.
So if you happened to require the retopology tools and they don’t work too well, then regardless if a update is free or not, the same thing remains, its either fixed or not, or its either improved apon or it is not. So at times it may seem some are complaining about the lack of this and that, but in reality its just a need that they feel is required in order to get better and more reliable results for their usage.
Its a common trend amongst all software developers to add features when there are more than enough bugs to be fixed, from a business point of view it draws more people in, the bugs don’t impact new users as does long time users. This is not reflecting how I personally feel, but how I read between posts in general.
Personally, I have some things that I really would like to see fixed/improved over any feature added, but im grateful for the hard work Pixologic has put into Zbrush as a whole application, and still keep giving it for free. I would not mind paying for updates, more so if the same attention was put into fixing and improving as adding new features.
4 more days!
The only I can do is to keep asking silly questions like… can we drop a mesh in dynamesh mode? Can we work on very low poly (<10K) with dynamesh?
For instance, we can import a sculptris mesh (tris) but remesh-project won’t work in most cases and will result on rathe heavy meshes. Does dynamesh changes anything here?
Waiting for the new renderer too. As the only way to render polypainted and heavy sculpted presentations. Without the use of retopology, projections, UVs and baking. Yes, these last aren’t for animators only.
WOW… Just waiting for that…!
free is in the budget
WOW! This is Awesome,Fantastic Work as Always GUYS:)
Holy Carp Ofer…
One looks upon the splendors manifesting before One’s eyes and One grins like a Cheshire Cat.
One chortles and One jumps and One clicks One’s heals in mid air like a happy Disney leprechaun.
I just can’t say anything else…
