Making Time For Art #4 - "Clay Time"

Against so many wows, this video, a 3dcoat to zbrush workflow.

Just to have an overall view.
Still counting the days for the new release, but don’t expect me to wow.
We all love zbrush, this counts, because pixologic understands artists needs more than any other developer.

:+1: Took my breath away…

Just what I needed…an excuse to build another box…:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

this is what happens when Autodesk doesn’t buy everything up! Great developments!!!

This!!!

Thank you SOOO much Pixologic! (And please don’t EVER sell out to Autodesk!)

And now, something like that video can all be done in Z!

Awesome. Will the new ZBrush be 64 bit native for better memory handling?

Wow! I just hope that when you cut a chunk of a mesh away that you have the option of deleting it.

Still, this is damn impressive.

Yup, by what i have heard and seen and read.

Yup. Video shows it. Deleted or even dropped to a subtool using current Ztech.

ooOOOooo! Ztech!..ssSexy!

I am freaking psyched… i have to build a squid for a level that i am working on, and this will make me design it… now, if I make a zsphere armature, will I be able to use Dynamesh on this?

I call shenanigans. Something as major as x64(arguable it and BETTER retopo are two major features nearly everyone is missing) would be known by know and i haven’t even read any half convincing rumors.

michalis, Is it really necessary for you to keep posting links to 3dcoat videos in this thread? Making a point of how un-wowed you are with this new release just makes you sould like… meh. I’m glad you like 3dcoat, I like it too. But there is probably a better place for you to go promote it. Doing it here is just kind of tacky.

About ZBrush 4R2 - Thank you Pixologic! I literally felt tingley while watching this newest video. I feel like a kid the week before Christmas. Can’t wait.

To be honest I am wondering if you will need Zspheres, maybe for posing and rigging?
Imagine dynamesh with symmetry turned on for X Y and Z and having radial on… Tentacle Monsters!!!
Wiggle wiggle wiggle!
hehehehehe!
this is going to be great fun!

And it’s funny that i touched Zbrush this morning… I would just love to have my zspheres just to have it… i would have to test the Dynamesh

this ;f
Wish i could work on more polies without zbrush slowing to a crawl and going crazy on my hdd ;D
But that would be their big annoucemnt, not some new clay stuff ;/

That “new clay stuff” may cause you to use less with out even noticing you are doing it and thus increase the number you can use in areas where you need them.
There is a fair amount of evidence that the new clay stuff is adding and removing polygons on the fly, if that is the case and I bet it is I think you will find your self rather pleased.

Did you bother to watch the entire video before replying?

dont wnat to dissqapoint you, but sculpturist and voxel sclupting softwree has been around for many many years, even in game engines like cryengine2. This is nothing new, and its slow as hell without gpu acccdleration.
It does allow for some new fun things, but it will force you to work on few time less polycount than what your pc could handle with normal polygons ;/
Untill zbrush starts supproting gpus for rendering and sculpting, i dont see myslef using this thing much ;f

O jeez, a few more dayz!

Well, I currently use Sculptris to generate a temp mesh and then use that to create a low poly in Zbrush.

I just couldn’t get Zspheres right, and Zsketch. These tools are awesome but I find it too technical, and requires lots of management.

With the new Dyna-mesh, I’d be working on Zbrush directly.

However, I do believe the need to create a low-poly with the needed edgeflows would still require a 3rd-party application.

Still, given Dyna-mesh, cleaning up and setting up the edges in Max will be much quicker (I hope). That is if Dyna-Mesh doesn’t permanently increase your subdivisions. Meaning that the low subdivision would also be updated as new chunks are added to the mesh when editing at a higher subdv level.
