Mac & Zbrush 3 Thread

Pixologic’s site quotes:

“At the exhibition, Pixologic™ (Booth #711) will showcase the latest version of its 2D/3D Modeling, Sculpting, Texturing and Rendering software. Pixologic™ will also demonstrate new and innovative technologies, a “sneak preview” of the upcoming version of ZBrush, and address the growing challenges facing digital artists today.”

New developments certainly seem to be on the way, but speaking personally, I’m not getting my expectations up too soon, regarding tangible, available downloads. We’ll probably get some very interesting announcements, which have been hinted at, as these type of industry events are simply a marketing channel. We may have to wait a little longer for something to download. Don’t want to be a downer, but that’s how I see it.

we know now that mudbox 2009 is windows only, but darn the viewport display capabilities looked wonderful…i’m not TOTALLY sold onit but it has pricked up my ears toward mudbox…HDRI lighting, tone mapping, ambient occlusion, layered painting…nice.

so… ZB3.5 what ya got for us?

You get this from Siggraph?.. has it even started yet? even though I know it wont bear us any fruit I’m very interested to find out what they will say!

yeah last night autodesk had they live stream event…was amazing to see mudbox demo amongst all the apps shown.

Autodesk has announced Maya 2009. Only thing new I’ve found so far this morning.

…3dsmax is alfway thru it’s release year but they showed off the extension 001

Here is hoping that something happens at Siggraph today

yeah me too…hope to see/read something soon…whoever’s out there…go online after you talk to the pixologic booth people and tell use what’s the deal with 3.5!

i’m actually expecting the sneek peek to be another video teaser like they did for version 3.

They must have confused their release cycle with that of the Olympic Games… Once ever four years. :frowning:

Wow! I really didn’t know it had been that long. This is singular! With so many of my other apps it’s, "What, another upgrade? I gotta pony out again?" With ZBrush, it’s, “Upgrade? What’s an upgrade?”

Y’know, I really have to believe that Pixologic is a small outfit. That would explain a lot. On the other hand, look what Silo has done with just two guys.

Ouch, that hurts! If no specific, solid news on a mac version comes from Siggraph today, then it’s official…Mac users have been left for dead.

new vid on mudbox now up
http://area.autodesk.com/mudbox_preview#

looks pretty goood…so where’s the pixologic’s NEWS then
on sneek peek for 3.5?

Finally they let someone display A LITTLE actual sculpting, rather than some 9 year old destroying a model. It actually looks awesome. The viewport rendering is impressive. Windows only though so screw it.

It seems that it’s just for detailing and painting any ways. I need something that can create geometry and subtools, pose models, and essentially stand on it’s own. I still haven’t ponied up for a 3d app. ZB3+PSCS3…C’mon Pixologic, do the damn thing! Quit f*&%in’ around!

My bad

Dude, that’s been up since the Windows v3 release, they didn’t just post it! If you click the Pixologic icon in the top left, you will see what they’ve posted this week…

i think we’re going to see a video with just a music track on the main page for 3.5 sneekpeek…and probably no CLUE to what o/s is running it!

has the demo started yet out there?

The rendering for target plattforms and render-sculpting is the only thing impressive with the presentation. Everything else has been available in Zbrush 3.1 already.
The polygon amount isn’t too impressive either, since I we dn’t know on what kind of a machine-beast this was presented on.

So what’s happening at booth 711?

the pc they presented on was hp 8 intel xeon core with 8 gig ram and a quadro card.
