Good James, yes, let’s keep this on track. Good idea.
So how far away is Siggragh? Do you think that will be “The Date”?

Very Sweet, thanks for posting, DL the demo now.
Maybe next year’s Siggraph.
You haven’t been insulting at all? Here are some sarcastic gems from you.
Let’s not forget the picture of Steve Jobs with Kool-Aid either, and how you implied we’re all brainwashed. You must be low on memory, I guess. If you want respect, that’s fine, just remember it goes both ways. By all means, let’s all be civil from here on.
That’s some cool looking software, huh? Apparently, you can create these polygon free, bot based abstract creations, but then import them into zbrush or other 3d apps as polygon models. Slick…
Siggraph is August 11 - 15, so it’s less than a month and a half away. That’s still more than I want to wait, but you gotta be suspicious of it since it’s already been this long. Really, one hour is longer than I want to wait. As I’ve also mentioned, the Meats Meier’s downloads from gnomonology have been removed, so they’re all up to something! I’m on to 'em! He created the artwork for the Siggraph 2008 image and is probably doing some presentations, so I could see the new Zbrush along with his new training videos being simultaneously released there.
Yeah, looks real ineresting, kind of has a pixo feel too.
I agree, one more hour is too long, but what can you do? Good catch on the gnomonology, there has to be something going on …
And once again, just for good measure, I’ll quote the first post of this thread, so catch a hint and stop the off topic arguing, at least in this thread. This is about the ONLY resource for new information on the subject of Zbrush for Mac. I’ve found a lot of good info here, so let’s not ruin it for those of us seeking updates and professional opinions.
I used to be interested in this thread, but I’m de-subscribing from this thread due to it’s increasingly been filling up my email inbox with “updates” that aren’t really updates…
Cresshead mentioned it a few pages ago. Meats is definitely a top seller. It makes me wonder why the would deny themselves $ for a month and a half?? Of course, with my antsy optimism, it makes me think that we might see a Zbrush/Meats DVD release before Siggraph. But only Miss Cleo knows…
Call me now!!!..
Thanks for the links james - yeah I saw that one on macnn or
something last week and checked it out. As soon as I saw the
homepage I thought ‘Meats!’ - yeah, anyway, it’s on the
shopping list for sure… btw thanks for checking out the site
It’s on my list as well. It’s only $69 until the 28th. (geez, they need to pay me for some ads). I’m curious how it will work with Mac Zbrush. I bet you could create some crazy subtools to implement with zsculpts.
I tried Groboto awhile ago. It was pretty sweet. Meats deleted his tutorials, huh? That kinda bites since I just purchased the 3.1 intro ones a couple weeks ago (after A-KON 19 in Dallas)…my priorities are misaligned obviously because I still have no fridge. I have a microwave, though.
I just downloaded the demo, you get a $20 off coupon once you do-
that nets it to $59… am checking out now thanks so much
will probably have to drop that $20 next month when they debut v3 tho…
(if not $50 doh… but such is life)
edit
here’s the article: http://legacy.macnn.com/articles/08/06/15/groboto.3d.23.released/
So they’re releasing a v3 next month, eh? Cool. That must be the reason for the discounts.
Well, you said it, you’re a jack of all trades! You’ll still learn a ton from the Meats dvd that’ll help you in the new update, so I wouldn’t consider it a waste of $, except for the fact that a mini fridge is close to the same price! I bet you have a can opener to go with that microwave, huh?!
How about we play a little guessing game guys? Seeing who can guess what the surprises/extra features would be.
My guess would be a Cocoa rewritten, true 64bit, Intel only version of ZB, with the retopology tools strengthened/fixed, ZMapper availability and all the plugins that got released in the past year (ZappLink V3, SubTool Master, etc.) implemented. Independant XYZ scaling (squash&stretch) of ZSpheres would be a nice touch too.
What you need to understand Kosher is that most here are (painfully) aware of Pixologic’s policy and don’t need you to explain it to them. The reason this thread exists is for Mac users to vent some of their frustration and to have their complaints heard regardless of Pixologic’s policies. You have tried several times to get this and similar threads closed by stirring up trouble and then screaming foul at the mods. Stop being a nuisance and playing the victim when people point out your antics.
Yeah, yeah… I have heard it all before. I’m the bad guy, I am evil, I hate Mac, I am the mean one flame bating, the troll of all trolls.
I’m not the one that has taken over the Questions and Troubleshooting forum with these “games” and flaming remarks towards Pixo. As far as policy goes, I would rather see it enforced in this situation.
I don’t have to “hype” Mac OS to make myself feel like more of an artist. As a matter of fact, I would rather disassociate myself from the whole type of community in this thread. Somehow, I’ve turned into your whipping boy and scapegoat for Pixologics closing the previous thread. It was a mistake for them to let this thread fly in the first place.
…and if you hold cntrl-option and click on the subtools menu
a pop-up appears that says Merlin lives??
Here’s hoping for 64bit + built in zMapper, subtool master,
transpose master etc… would be so nice!
Can’t wait! I hope soon really is soon.

Please, don´t pay atention to this kosher dude. I don´t understand what is doing here, in first place, since he is a happy pc user with a working ZB app.
Still waiting.

…anyways…everyone just needs to drop it…so we can resume adult discussion of zbrush for the mac…ahhh nevermind…I’ve heard of people predicting every one of those new features except for the xyz scalable zspheres. Now that would be useful. There are a lot of other ideas that myself and others have posted in the “Z4 wishlist” thread. It’s definitely worth reading through to show how much potential ZBrush has for the future. Amongst the many brilliant brainstorms are things like:
-More file security upon crash
-Photoshop style layers for sculpting, textures, AND polypainting w/ layer styles, opacity, ect.
-Photoshop style subtool pallete
-Ability to add controllable lighting for things like flashlights, ect.
-Special effects such as fire, hair, smoke, ect.
-Transparent materials for ice, water, ghosts, glass, ect.
-3 button mouse navigation like Maya
-Digital clay that is made of pixols wrapped in a 3d environment that can be translated to polygons for exporting (no more worrying about topology)
-And of course, the “Merlin’s lives” hotkey…
The list goes on and on. Many of the ideas there may be too far fetched for Zbrush, but it’s worth a look and a post for sure.
