Mac & Zbrush 3 Thread

I’ve been going through such a range of emotions over this whole situation; anger, depression, frustration, confusion, acceptance, and then, back to anger again. It’s as if I’m going through the mourning process here.
I don’t know if ZBrush on the Mac is dead or alive.
Though I begin to fear the worst, I don’t want to believe it… not yet, anyway.
So, I keep coming back here, again and again, looking for word, any word, some hope, or perhaps, just closure.

Nothing. Dead Silence. I'm not here asking for information about Z3 for Mac at this point. Just venting. It's painfully obvious by now, I could sooner get water from the moon, or cure death before I would get an answer to that question. I noticed, in other threads, whenever someone has a question, aurick the "SUPER MODERATOR" is usually faster than a speeding bullet at answering those questions. Yet, this thread he avoids like a giant glowing chunk of green kryptonite.

I’m not looking to the skies anymore.
Right now, I’d just settle for a mild-mannered reporter. Maybe then I’d at least get some news.

Doo da dee da du chum… doo da dee da du chum!

Just thought seeing as there is no news I may as well be a lobstrocity from the dark tower :stuck_out_tongue:

Apparently the only thing Aurick will do with this kind of thread is wait for it to blow up so he can close it. Totally unacceptable. But it is what it is and we can’t change the ethics of this forum or the company’s either.

Shame, it was such a promising piece of software for us.

That’s not strictly true, I don’t think it is fair to get personal. It seems obvious to say it but it is a fact whether we like it or not - Aurick is bound by an NDA just like anyone at any software company right down to the beta testers. I imagine a way of getting round that was to introduce ‘unnofficial’ news to at least bring us something, but that kind of backfired when the deadlines came and went, which is precisely why developers don’t like to give out deadlines I guess. Don’t get me wrong I am as frustrated as the next mac user, but for me personally, Aurick has always been as respectful and helpful as possible. If it really is this difficult surmounting the mac dev problems then I am grateful they didn’t just throw in the towel at v2. Just my 2 penneth

Well, my zbrush class starts Monday and it would be nice to actually use the program I paid for in August '07  . How come 3d Coat (1 programmer) can come out with updates every 2 seconds, but it takes Mudbox and zbrush well over a year ? Well, at least Mudbox never charged for updates they didn’t deliver. If zbrush wasn’t the industry standard, I would’ve moved on long ago. But it is, so I have to check back here daily like a f#!k%^g idiot. Is it here yet?

A communication interruption between the zbrush users and pixologic can mean only one thing.

Invasion.

Get to the fighter jets and stop mudbox from taking over.

It seems more like everyone at Pixo is on the witness protection plan, rather than, bound by an NDA agreement - They are so invisible. Would having someone at Pixologic simply acknowledge that mac users have had to wait a long time, that they understand our frustration, and appreciate our patience in this matter, really break an NDA agreement? I don’t think so. I have poured through these forums many times, and I don’t recall ever seeing that statement. If anyone has, please let me know.
The few times Aurick has come in here to say they are working on it, his statements often sounded less like he was answering customer concerns, and more like a cop who was breaking up a loud and unruly crowd of Bostonians who were jamming in the streets after the NBA finals.
I feel like we’re all just seconds away from getting maced all the time.
Also, he even indicated at one point, that his information isn’t even official, so take it with a grain of salt. How is that supposed to comfort me? The little bit of news, after all this time, is at best, hearsay? Isn’t there anyone that can speak officially for Pixologic?
When Z3 for windows was being tested, we had all kinds of glimpses at it and information coming out on a regular basis.
Now, nothing. Not one indication something is actually happening. It makes one wonder.
If Pixologic is behind the scenes working their butts off for Mac users, then why do they prefer to leave the impression we’re second class citizens, and that our concerns aren’t that important.
I just don’t understand how bad PR helps the cause, and how they can expect us to feel satisfied, or feel like valued customers.
Maybe they have something big cooking, or maybe they lost the recipe. it’s impossible from our viewpoint to know. Naturally, we’re going to be interested in what’s going on; We’re invested in this product and in this company. I’ve totally wasted valuable time repeatedly looking here for some information for more than a year, as have many others. It’s, to say the least, frustrating.
The atmosphere here is that we should just keep our mouths shut and wait, no matter how long it takes. I’m tired of feeling like the ugly stepchild.
If the situation were reversed, and it were window users who had to wait this long with no word, the outcries would be much louder than they are now.
And, not just because of sheer numbers, but also, because they haven’t had to learn to develop the patience of Job like we mac users have.
At least Job’s patience was rewarded. Hopefully, mac users will be, as well.
Just a little respect is all I’m asking for at the moment. That’s all. If it’s there, then there must be something in the NDA that prohibits it from being shown.

Someone needs to do a story on this debacle. Has anyone important actually written a blog about this? I bet it would either help light a fire or maybe convince Pixologic to make an “official” statement.

reverse pressure!!!

Hypnotoad - wasn’t that the part of the
movie where she tells him that each and
every one of us dies alone?? was that on
purpose?? lol someone should model
clarus the dogcow with an eye shot out
like frank in d.darko - that can be our
thread mascot.

Yeah I can picture that scene in the Goonies when they’re underneath the country club banging on the pipes.

Well again, I am also very frustrated by the situation, but an NDA is an NDA no matter how hacked off we are. Aurick has told us that the product is in beta testing and barring any major calamaties will be with us soon. Perhaps something serious got broke during the beta cycle, perhaps after spending months supporting a defunct mac OS only to find that apple has given up on it upset the apple cart. The thing is, he’s not at liberty to say because he’s under an NDA.

I guess I should have had an NDA on my debit card…

I admit I haven’t actually paid for anything since I first bought v1.55 and I can still use the excellent ZB2 with patience, so perhaps my frustration is more muted - On the plus side though, what other commercial software company would give you 2 full point versions for free? Certainly not the likes of Apple, Adobe or Autodesk, not even my favourites, Maxon.
Having said that I will be supporting 3D Coat on the mac whether its as good as ZB or not, because having choice is healthy and some people improve software faster than others

I hear that one a lot - but is it really free??
Or are you paying for it with your time?

I imagine the ‘deal’ factor may have aided
with platform adoption initially, but I can’t
help thinking there’s a direct correlation
between lost profits and this extended
development time.

To state it another way, I’d of paid double
if it meant being enabled to succeed or not.

If we’re gonna do movies, here’s one for ye

An NDA usually covers a program that has not been released yet but as far as we know we are waiting for the same program that was released on the Windows platform over a year ago. Are the users on the Windows platform also under an NDA?

j

Very good point, I never thought of it that way. It seems reasonable that it would slow down development from lack of investment $ if they’re only profiting from new users that purchases a license. I would much rather pay than wait, personally, because enhanced productivity from updates would pay itself off. It probably even slows down the update process on the Windows side.

hey I am a new customer, solely for mac, so gimme the damn beta if they cant supply me with the final one… atleast I get to learn the software instead of this freaking waiting…

gotta watch Anger management again I guess
