konjo they have a full featured version you can use for nothing.
if you don’t want watermarks you can get the apprentice version
for $100 - it’s just non-commerical use in the terms…
Hey electric, where do you sign up for the PS beta?
I know it’s early, but they usually post that stuff on
Adobe Labs and I don’t see anything… just some
threads about some faked stonehenge release
from 11/07 and the DW/FW/SB betas they posted
this morning…
I def. want to get on that one
You know I can’t say anything about the beta.
All I can say is that I’m excited !
not even where you signed up?
Super Glitcher -
Sorry for my delayed response.
I don’t know. Years ago I was in touch with someone at Adobe and I was placed on the list. Ever since then, they have contacted me for the beta releases. I’ve been a Photoshop beta tester for 5 years now.
Originally, I started working with Photoshop at version 3. I still remember the easter eggs with the floating box and the burping cat. Version 5 and 6 , I think.

You can download a FREE version of Houdini to learn with… OR for $99 you can use a version that outputs without a watermark.
I was laughing out loud today in the lateste issue of “Fantasy & Scifi Digital Art ImaginFX” (in the US current issue) they are talking about Zbrush 3 and list the specs as needing a PC or Mac for to run it. MAC…sure! Thats a good joke…only if the issue was from the future…maybe 3 years into the future?!
Yeah, that is funny. This just sucks. What a nightmare for a company to go through. I can only imagine the embarrassment by someone involved in this whole fiasco.

conversely I have to imagine hard to not be involved in it…
electric… wow, that’s nice! you’ve been around long enough
to remember LivePicture then? (LOL!) I started with PS
in 92’ I think - pre-layers, I think it was v2 back then.
When they introduced layers, that was the best EVER!
I think I was using a Mac IIfx back then… besides the
sheer weight of that box I can recall cutting my finger
pretty bad upgrading the RAM once … shivers
Oh I hope they finally made liquify a live tool
I’m just thinking again about a date, when? Pixologic please make it real, try to make this release of Zbrush for mac, before July (I need to take some holidays … (Its definitivelynot a joke ha ha ha ha I’m near dementia, now!)
Hi fellow maccers,
I’ve been speraticly checking these forums (including the one that was closed down due to too much bitching) since ordering zbrush at the close of last year. As we all did I received zbrush 2. Although I messed with it a few times, I never got into it, more for the fact that I would be getting V3 any day now, any day now for 6 months :S I know the port has to be difficult but the demand is astounding. Design studios and expert imagers mostly use mac (with the exception of 3DS Max of course).
I am not here to frustrate or push the developers into releasing a sub-standard product, but again in keeping with the general theme on this forum SOME information would be nice, also if and a big IF they release v4 wouldnt that mean that we have lost our licence for V3? then I could have just been using V2 all along, I probably should have been anyway but you know, why use a mini when a ferrari is just within grasp!
Waiting on bated breath!
Well way back when ZB was announced in Jan [?] for Mac I took the uber pessimistic view & guessed April/May…
Even I never thought it would ever hit June & beyond…
Dare I say a Siggraph release…
you are a mean, mean person.
mogs,
You and a few others seem to overlook something very important… THEY GIVE FREE UPGRADES!!!
I know, I know, you’ve been waiting a long time and you just can’t stand it anymore. I’ve been waiting too but there’s one thing I still can’t believe, I don’t have to pay for the update! Do any other companies have this sort of policy? I am pretty sure that Photoshop doesn’t. Maya? Uhm no…
I would be happy to start paying for updates if it meant supporting the developers at ZB and having more frequent releases… Honestly, I don’t mind paying for ZB because it’s entertaining.
Those of you that decided to jump on the train to purchase the Windows version in order to get the Mac release, I feel your pain. I would be a little sad but I actually weighed my options too, then decided it was probably better to stick it out on the PC until the Mac version became available.
I am not trying to anger anyone either, believe you me.
Who cares if the upgrade is free if you can’t
use it? That’s like getting paid in IOUs.
I don’t think there’s a person here wouldn’t
drop an upgrade fee to get a year of use out
of z3 - I think I’ve commented on this before
as well, in the last thread. It’s rather self
defeating from a business stand point.
A progress update, release date, screenshots or beta images. Any real news on ZB 3 for the Mac. Would be most welcome about now.
Pretty please
Pretty funny, a “Free” update is great to look forward to, but the last version has become obsolete to most of us as we have upgraded our machines. So now instead of looking forward to it while getting by with all the power ZB2 has, we sit and wait for a release so we can use ZB all together again.
Sad that a company has decided not to release info based on their lack of hitting commitments in the past. Seems the only thing they learned from that was to not announce release dates. I would hope that they learned how to better rate their progress in order to give more firm release dates. I can understand this a bit as they can’t hit a date if it were on the broad side of a barn. However, more info regarding progress is called for, even with out an announced date for them to miss and get bad publicity over. Right now, they are getting bad press around here from the restlessness over waiting for some vaporware.
This zbrush 3 for mac delay seems oh too familiar to the maxwell render v1 release of a couple years ago.
You purchase the software with the faith that the software will be released soon, and then wait as the company misses deadlines, shrouds themselves in silence and then are offended when people are critical of their pr practices.
Since that time, next limit has been much more open and on-track.
Perhaps the people at pixologic could take notes on how other software companies treat the people who support them. Take responsibility for your actions. If you’re running behind say you are as soon as possible, keep the communications up and you’ll be amazed at how many more people will be on your side. Or miss deadlines and throw out a one liner saying “we’re really close” and see how the patience dissolves.
care to see a company running smooth? check out luxology/modo. They are always providing information to their users, if they are going to miss a deadline they tell you ahead of time and explain why. Their president puts out a weekly modcast, which updates users.
Zbrush 3 for mac i am sure will be fantastic, but I really don’t think I’ll be coming back here everyday looking for a miracle. Pixologic, email me when you have something done. I am sure I’ll be around in September.
James
You have a point 3DJ, I have been unable to use ZB at all for over 6 months even more actually, yet I paid for it!!!
I did get a free PC licence when ZB3 was released, if you consider buying Parallels & Windows free!!!
I have gone past the point of caring now, when ZB comes I’ll use it, until then I’ll use something else…
