well i wasn’t sure if it would be helpful or not, just a suggestion, and although he talks about using an illegal copy (i guess to just see if it works) at first he does say to buy a legal version so i thought that was okay. like i said i’m not out to ruffle feathers.
Haha, nice catch!
Spaceboy412, I like this piece in your cg gallery…
http://spaceboy412.cgsociety.org/gallery/506606/
cool stuff
spaceboy - not ruffled at all. just letting you know. outside of the brief clone wars era, apple doesn’t let their os run on any equipment they don’t make. it of course can be done but it’s against apples eula.
So let me get this right.
There will be a version of zbrush 3.5 that will run on a intel based mac running OS X?
They didn’t really say it would run on OS X.
Zbrush 3.1 runs on a intel based mac right now.
But in windows not OS X.
I want Zbrush running on OS X.
Can someone clear this up for me plz?
-peace
Yes.
God bless you people are creative…it will be on osx, c’mon…
If I didn’t know any better, I would think you all are being sarcastic with these comments…
you’re kidding, right?
Not as crazy a question as it sounds…Eyeon just announced Fusion 6 would run on Intel-based macs…but there doesn’t appear to be an OS X version
Reading between the lines, it all makes sense. They didn’t say XP or Vista either, they just said “Windows”. For all we know, 3.5 may, in fact only work on Windows 7 which of course has not been released. This would allow Pixologic to postpone the real world release farther into the future. Yes, it would be “technically” available 4th quarter but uninstallable. Why just irritate and alienate one small OS user base when you can stab at the heart of the beast, yes the entire Windows user base. Wag that carrot in from of them AND the Mac users. Make everyone suffer!!! Yes!!! Genius… sheer unadulterated genius!!!
Yeah I knew computers were of the Devil all along. Now this just confirms it. LOL.
I’m too lazy to cut and paste, look below:
I think it’d be better if they went the complete other way and released the next version for Windows 3.1:
That would be so effin’ awesome, trying to sculpt as your computer struggles to render a sphere… and it would still kick Vista’s butt.
There are lots of rumors afloat pertaining to Windows 7. The majority (that I’ve heard) say it’s just going to be this massive multi-touch operating system, and will capitalize on Microsoft’s surface technology. It sounds like it’d be cool for Zbrush, kind of bridging the gap between real and virtual sculpting. However my instincts tell me Windows 7 will be nothing more than Vista with a slightly altered interface and minor upgrades. IE Windows 95 to Windows 98.
If pixo were to straight out release the PC version for the new OS only, not allowing XP or (God help them) Vista users, they would see a full on uprising that would dwarf our tiny little thread. Then it would be very interesting to see their reaction and where their allegiances lie. I bet they’d have a functioning copy ready for download within a month.
I’m pretty sure that “Unified” is actually a new type of super computer.
Neither PCs or Macs will be able to use ZBrush 3.5. It’s a Unified release. We’re all screwed, it’s a conspiracy.
Actually the story goes something like this…
Pixologic announces ZB3.5 at Siggraph 2008, then releases a few technology preview videos on their website early in 2009. After many, many months of total silence, Pixologic previews ZB4 at Siggraph 2009 and announces availability early in 2010. Of course the Mac version won’t be available until a few months after the official - ‘Windows’ - ZB4 release, but any Mac user purchasing ZB2 at the special upgrade price will get a free license transfer to ‘ZB4 for Mac’ when it’s released. Gee… I think I’ve read this somewhere before… And the irony of the situation is that every single Mac user posting in this forum will be the FIRST IN LINE to hand over their money. Does that make Mac users look like morons or what!
Stop acting like Mac using, placard waving activists attempting to save some purple-pnsed, 9 legged mongolian tree frog, and wake up to the realities of the modern corporate world. 2k Mac users vs maybe 20k pro content developers collectively holding 50k ZB licenses. Add to that maybe another 30k non-pro ZB 3.x licensees and you suddenly have 80k ZB 3.x users willing to pay $300 each for an upgrade to ZB 4… that’s $24M. So ask yourself… if you were in the business of software development where would your priorities be?
You get taunted only because most Mac users posting on this forum are well… just so ‘anal retentive’. …‘I’LL NEVER USE WINDOWS ON MY MAC’ but I’m willing to waste my time whinging and whining in this forum for the next 30 years while ‘Windows’ users are busily creating amazing art with their copy of ZB v12… Are Mac users really so moronic that they don’t realise how absolutely stupid their statements are.
I realise most encumbant - bet most Mac users have to look up that word - Mac users would be too dumb to understand the complexities, but spend some of your obviously plentiful time - well you really don’t have any apps to run on your Macs anyway - over at the developer forums at Apple, and just maybe - but I doubt it - you’ll come to understand that much of what you are so ready to blame Pixologic for, is really of Apple’s making. The ‘good ol’ days - well in your opinions’ anyway - of Mac have gone. Mac hardware is now a multi OS, multi developer platform targeted by Apple not only as a ‘MacOS’ platform, but also ‘Linux’, ‘Unix’, and - dare I say it - ‘Windows’. If you want to keep repeating to yourself …‘I’LL NEVER USE WINDOWS ON MY MAC’… then so be it, but no one’s listening. Not Pixologic and especially not Apple.
You have a great imagination. Very creative.
I like both OS’s, I just like computers. I do have a Mac, though, and it has Window’s on it, which I think makes it a more diverse computer. The ability to have access to two OS’s and software availabilities on one box is great, in my opinion. More than just the convenience of no reboot, I’m looking forward to the new features.
I gotta admit, some of your post made me laugh. You’re pretty crazy in a humerous way, which would explain your theories. You’re entitled to your opinion, though, no matter how overly extreme. At this point, you leave me no choice but to think you’re being sarcastic and that this is what you do when you’re bored.
This would be the highlight of that rant!..
“…, placard waving activists attempting to save some purple-p…d, 9 legged mongolian tree frog,…”
…whoa, now that’s funny sh**!..
And you are talking of morons ???
YOU ?
Congrats ! not bad at all !
You got a problem with me?
Yes, I bet most Mac users (and Windows and Linux users as well) would want to look up the word “encumbant”. The funny thing is you won’t actually find it in the dictionary. I think you meant to say “incumbent”.
You made me smile though, that’s a good thing.
Wow, that was one of the most thick-headed, neandertal, and pretty much intolerant posts I’ve ever seen.
Mac glory days come and gone? Is that why mac sales are up over like 100% every single quarter and Apple just over-took google in value? Not to mention corporations that would have never even thought of it beginning to consider OS X as an alternative because of the joke that is Vista?
But I digress. This is not a thread for OS bashing, it’s more about realizing that the Mac OS has long been a haven of creatives and designers and as 3D becomes more and more accessible to designers and artists VS the more bits and circuits inclined types companies like pixologic are making 3D more accessible to less nerdy types. Thats means more mac. They stand to make a nice little niche for themselves if they really own up to their development cycles for the Mac version, especially since it’s pretty much the only game in town as far as a robust sculpting and painting solution for OS X.
Please take your wish-it-was-high-minded brow beating to a forum where you can head-butt people and talk about how many beers you can drink before passing out.
Made me laugh too, classic…
