I recently resigned from my position at Framestore (got fed up with increasingly expensive and dirty London and it’s subpar standard of living) and decided to give Weta a try instead. See what things are like down there.

Hey I just thought, you’ll probably come into contact with the Mudbox beta and developers at Weta! Maybe you could give them a nudge in the direction of OSX?! 
Yeah, it’s been good fun so far (been at FS for the past 10 years or so). FS’s been getting better projects as time went by building up their reputation with the big studios. Last couple of shows I got to work on were ‘Batman The Dark Knight’, ‘Prince Caspian’ and ‘Quantum of Solace’ and I was grateful for the opportunity. So leaving was not an easy choice. The people there are simply awesome.
I’m not sure if the SkyMatter devs are still based at Weta (if all of them ever were). I think Dave Cardwell left Weta some time ago.
But rest assured, I’ll be sure to preach the Apple gospel regardless. :lol:

I think you’re right, Dave Cardwell left Weta quite while ago but I’m guessing he keeps in touch and Weta are an important part of beta testing just as they used to be with ZB. Of course I am just guessing!

I’ve decided not to buy the 2 Sybex ZBrush books just yet. I’m gonna go for one of the new Ballistic ones instead. Probably Exposé 6 or Digital Painting 2.
I still feel hopeful that Siggraph could bring us some very good news though. I’m just gonna wait until afterwards before I start making any plans. Not long to go now.

Weta has never had anything to do with Mudbox… it was just the studio where Dave, Andrew and Tibor were. So it was the origional test bed, and skymatter was a NZLD based company cause they were all based there.
They are all now in Toronto AFAIK, down the hall from a friend of mine at Autodesk. Just to clear things up.
You see more and more of public betas being made available from people like Apple, Adobe and e-on software.

First time poster here.
Ive looked around for the answer to this question but havent exactly found it so thought Id ask here.
I have a stock 2.4 ghz Intel iMac with the 1GB memory.
I want to run ZB3 (seems Fusion is the best ?)
What upgrades do I need to make for it to run smoothly or is it something where I just need to buy a more powerful machine ? If I just upgrade my Ram to 2GB will that be sufficient ?
I can dedicate this machine only to ZBrush as I have another I can use for everything else

Im havin’ trouble. new mac pro (4GB). 
If nothing is stated about an available or immanent Mac release during SIGGRAPH, demanding a refund would certainly be a reasonable request. Many people (who have been waiting for a year or longer) probably feel similarly.
I have also heard some amusing commentary regarding groups planning on picketing the Pixologic booth. I hope Pixologic is preparing for a fantastic Mac release, or they may want to start preparing for a really angry and vocal group of Mac Non-ZBrush-Users showing up at their booth-side doorstep scaring away prospective customers. I wonder if they will be so easily ignored in person…
I truly hope it is good news for all of us Mac users who want to support this companies endeavors, dished out the dough and have so far, ended up with only a bad tasting silent sandwich made of vapor.
My fingers are still crossed, but not for too much longer…
Just upgrading the Ram should be enough. Until there is a 64 bit OSX version of ZB parallels and Fusion arent gonan be able to assign more memory.
You can put me on that list of people who ARE going to ask for a refund if nothing happens during SIGGRAPH. I just wish I could afford a trip to LA. I’d want to be there to give them a piece of my mind face-to-face.
I agree, you don’t even need to increase your RAM to get it to run but I would add 1 to 1.5 gigs to get the best out of it. It can only use up to 2 gigs under 32bit XP (3 gigs with the 3gig switch-not recommended) or 4 gigs with 64bit xp/Vista

skullbeast I have same system here and encounter the same exact problem when trying to launch the program, seems they have yet to get a working version for us to beta test
