Positive vibrations for the coders at pixologic!!!
Ooooommmmmmmmm…
- Patience is a virtue. Hang in there.
- Platform flames are pointless and never appreciated.
- Never go off half cocked. Wait until you’re fully cocked.
Back a few months, when it became clear that we weren’t going to get the January or February release that was hinted at, I decided to relax and put my mind on other things. For one, there’s a lot of preliminary work that I need to do before taking my projects directly into ZBrush. So while waiting, I’m making sketches and gathering background material that I will need when ZB3 arrives.
My advice is to simply wait. It will be well worth it. Yes, I can run ZBrush 3 under BootCamp, and it works okay, but using Windows is so distasteful to me I would much rather wait until I can work in OSX and feel at home. Now this is purely personal, but I owned a number of PCs over the course of 15 years, and making the move (finally) to Apple computers five years ago was like walking out of a jungle and into a pleasant meadow. I would give up computers altogether before ever going back into that jungle. For me, there is just no comparison, but again this is purely personal. If PC users are perplexed by Mac fanatics as I once was, and maybe a little annoyed, that basic release from years of aggravation is what it is all about for “the rest of us.” On the other hand, most of my friends have PCs and are doing just fine. They haven’t come down with the mung or anything.
I learned a long time ago to mind my own business and let people make their own choices. That way, everyone is happy. Live and let live, I say.
As for Modo, I mentioned earlier in this thread that I own Modo 201 but have found it too complex for what I want to do. Once again, this is a personal matter and doesn’t mean that anyone else is going to have the same slant on it. ZBrush is exactly what I need, so getting ZBrush on a Mac is for me the best of both worlds and worth waiting any amount of time for.
Good things do come to those who wait, but man, the waiting is so hard when you see all the eye-candy the PC guys are making with zbrush 3 for almost a year now. I feel like a guy that’s been waiting to use the bathroom for a whole year. I can’t hold it in any longer. Hurry and open the door Pixologic before I explode!
^lol. nice analogy.
I just wet myself…
Ha ha! You might have to change your name from Mr.Storm to Mr.Flood.
hahaha Priceless!
Nice to finally see the discussion be more light.
I really can’t stand all that platform debate anyways, since none of the sides will ever agree.
and as for the waiting.
Well we’ve waited for this long, so how bad is a few more months?
I hope the wait isn’t a few more months. I heard it might be an April release, so I kinda got my hopes up, but I agree there’s no need to stress over sumthing that one can do nothing about. I am also just trying to keep busy so the wait dpesn’t seem so looooong.
i agree,
but if the Beta process as we heard from Aurick just started like a month ago (more or less) i’d say it’ll be more realistic with may or june.
But as you say it’s a moot point, the only thing that matters to me, is that it’s fully capable of utilizing 10.5 and perhaps even 64 bit
that’ll be awesome
I hope the same Dennis.p! I really hope it!
You know what! This is just silly now! :td:
Again, nothing to do with waiting, or about developer problems, but mearly about the lack of response from Pixologic! VERY BAD FORM!
yeah, this has just gotten alot of nothing going on and THIS FORUM shouldnt be the ONLY place I have to go for INFO on a program that is “state of the art”??? I would LOVE to get one of Pixologic’s Marketing people here in the forums to ask a…oh, wait…marketing? maybe we start with seeing if Pixologic even knows what that is. That would be like asking a geek at a comic convention if anyone knew what SOAP was!! nuff’ said…i agree though. I use New Tek’s Lightwave 3D and have never had them treat their releases like this. Not saying anything doesnt make it “OK” with me at all…i got enough to keep learning about animation and interactivity in Flash to just call the ZBrush package i bought a wash and toss it and YES it is my own fault that I bought it JUST because the new version looked like such an improvement. MY own fault i bought it because “HEY, you get a free upgrade WHEN(or if) Z3 comes out!” I was duped, so thats my own fault…live and learn.
What mystifies me is the why of this “bad form.” The only reason I can think of is a feeling of insecurity at Pixo. Even this is hard to picture, though, as “they” have no face. We have only Aurick. Reminds me of the Wizard of Oz, standing behind a curtain and frantically pulling levers. “Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.” Maybe Pixologic is just one guy. If so, I can understand his insecurity.
Just kidding.
Checking back out of curiosity, this thread was started on the first day of November, then was updated on March 25, at which point beta testing was to begin shortly. That would now make it roughly five to six weeks of beta. How long does it take to beta test something like this? I really have no idea. A May or June release? sigh This will be a wait to remember!
This is not the first time the Mac version has been late with no word

Indeed! For new members to the forum who are frustrated and mad and add posts venting - IT HAS NO AFFECT on when the mac version will be released. You are better off just getting really mad and jumping up and down, at least that way you will get some exercise.
The mac version is like cookies in the oven and will come out when it is done - no matter how long and hard the kids howl.
So relax, read a good book, eat some cheese, or find something creative to do while you wait.
Are you trying to say that the programmer(s)
doesn’t type faster the more posts I make?
Correct, …back to jumping up and down.
doug(h)tnuts
Are you trying to say that the programmer(s)
will type faster if I send them doughnuts?
