I got a support mail from Pixo saying that
they were going to do an email blast when
it’s available.
I don’t think you’ll miss much if you

do you refer to version 2 for mac ?
BEcause that doesn’t work on Intel based macs…
Zbrush 2 is working on my Intel Mac. Its not perfect and I wouldn’t use it day to day but it does work.

What’s with the complaints about the interface? I’m busy trying to learn Maya and find myself escaping back to the intuitive ‘grab and go’ workspace of Zbrush. If the team can improve on it, great. But no radical redisigns please.
Zbrush 2 Rocks!! I used to try building characters in Ray Dream Designer and never even dreamed of a tool like this. People have lost perspective. Go look at some of the older stuff from the top row gallery and ask yourself if it’s really a lack of the Transpose tools that’s holding you back.
Do you mean ZB2 doesn’t launch and just freeze on start up? You’ll just need to disable the startup screen/animation. If you do a search on the forums, you’ll find instructions on doing it and a modified config. file if you just want a drag and drop solution.
yeah I have done that… The biggest problem for me is that the Shift D to go to lower sub, sometimes just disables… then after maybe 3 or 4 restarts of the program it will work… for a period.
I agree with shhh’s take on this. ZBrush is an amazing piece of software, and - unfortunately - ‘amazing’ doesn’t come easy. As a long-time gamer I remember when people pulled off amazing feats of ingenuity on 8-bit computers in just 64K RAM; games that are still playable even by the standards of today’s vast, graphical behemoths.
I have a nasty feeling PPC compatibility won’t be here day and date with the Intel release, but as long as it eventually arrives, I’ll be very happy.
Long may Pixologic continue to create the impossible, which does the inconceivable and is enjoyed daily by the incredulous.
OK, I know it’s innovative software, and it’s tough to cross platforms, and they’re doing their best, it’s better to underpromise and overdeliver, etc. etc… But a nebulous “someday” is NOT OK with me. Bottom line, pixologic has had my money for a year now, and I still have not received a useable piece of software that works as advertised. Had I been aware that it would be necessary to run windows to use my Mac software license, of course I would have waited to buy. But my goodwill towards, and desire to do business with pixologic would have been preserved. As it is now, as much as I love the software, I feel like I was played for a chump by this company, and I don’t like it. Buyers should beware, yes, but Sellers should also beware of alienating Buyers.
OK, I feel better now. I can has cheezeburger? This month, at least? All will be forgiven.
I’m kinda wondering about how the mac beta process is going. Wondering if one of our fellow mac pissers and moaners is actually rockin’ with the mac ZB beta. The rules were kinda strict so whoever you are—i hope you’re representin’ and trailblazing for us!!!
Just check the Mac threads for whoever has been shouting but now has gone quiet and you’ll know.
Not me I should like to do some tests on my 8-core
No reply from Pix to my Beta test request.

I haven’t received beta yet.

I would definitely say judging by your work, that you should be on that beta tester list!
I am at the tipping point of asking for my pc version to be activated as I am fed up waiting. If they could say if it was going to be more than two weeks still then I would get Windows installed on my main Mac and get on with it.

No kidding! That stuff is amazing!
Great work!

Just wondering if there was any up-dated news on when z-brush 3.0 for Mac would be available? I possess a Powerbook G4 with the old Motorola chip, will z-brush 3.0 be able to run on it? Just wondering.
You’ll probably be pushing your machine to its limits.
Especially if you want to model in zbrush and bring your models to another 3d program.
Before this machine I have now, I had a powerbook g4 as well. It was a 667Mhz with 512MB of ram. In its last years with all the new programs and OS everything was slow. You could do work if you wanted to. And I did. For 5 whole years it was my only machine! But after a while you realise that you can save more time and money by getting a new one and not having to wait for the machine to do its work.
Even a macbook will be faster than your current machine. (I wouldn’t reccomend it but if you’re tight on budget…)
Anyway, that was waaaaay off subject…
Actually, since ZB doesn’t use the graphics card I would think a Macbook would make a great machine for ZBrush, especially if you add the full 4gigs of RAM. Not so good for other 3d apps though!
Aren’t we all!
