Long time no wip... Skeletor.

Thanks for the tip, I guess these 4k photos from the catacombs of Paris aren’t going to do.

ahhh, there we found the culprit and root of all the evil green. french skulls.

french skulls in particular when they are around 100 years old are of course green from absinthe. everybody knows that.

Interesting! Despite this ‘heavy-metal’ feel, have a look here (if not already)

I like the blood around, I don’t like the head (I simply don’t understand it as the whole dressing too), I think that a ‘simple’ bloody male nude is what you have in mind. A much more aggressive theme though.
Actually, I like the way you sculpt, Obz. Keep it this way :+1:

Thanks Michalis. I’m not sure if you guys had He-Man And The Masters of The Universe in Greece, but he is a basically a toy/cartoon villain from the 80’s. The same epoch as the Transformers and Atari, and other such things that todays 30-something North Americans will always be enamored with. So the dressing, I feel, is fairly close to the original concept, certainly derived, but true enough to be recognizable yet original in interpretation.
I wanted to stay somewhat true to the design, but giving my own twist. So the costume, or dressing as you call it, may not make total sense if you’re not familiar with the franchise.

I’m glad you like the sculpt. Hopefully the next iteration has a more aesthetically pleasing head for all.

Obz - as a teen during the early 80’s I rather like your interpretation. I am attempting the same thing with my project - a tribute to the original, but through my vision of what he might be like in a more “realistic” world.

Look forward to seeing the final renders:). :+1:

Wow.  Amazing work man!!

Thanks Alex!

Awesome man the skull came out really nice!

great work with textures man!! :+1:

Hey Obz, some improvement here. :+1:
My problem is that I like the head, I like the costume, I like the body but not together as a composition. But as you pointed, I wasn’t a “He-Man And The Masters of The Universe” fun.

Well there are still some important parts of the costume missing Michalis. Maybe you’ll like it more once they’re on there and they tie it together a bit. Google “skeletor” or see like page 5 or so, you’ll see what’s going to be added.
Then once I have him posed with the missing items with a nice background, well perhaps it will be more appealing to you as a composition.
Beyond that, I’m glad you like the components at least

Grasseti, Clintus, Thanks guys.

gorgeous textures! great work :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

I would say “sweetness”, but somehow I don’t think that is appropriate for this subject matter, lol … :+1: :+1: :+1:

I am not from this fraternity.I am an architectural visualizer, so I am so very useless in modelling characters and zbrush was always a dream for me to learn and it still is !
Having spent my childhood watching cartoons, he-man was my favorite one.And [just a thought] I would love to see the skeletor somewhat like this…What do you think?

And yeah Obz without question, you have done an amazing job.The textures, the feel of it is like, for real ! I hope you make all the characters from He-man and I will be back again to watch them and comment…Sorry if I am wrong somewhere.
Thank you,

So amazing. Nails kinda blend in with the skin, like it just a color change on the same render but the bones, skin, old leather and stuff is just… amazing. If you every decide to make some tutorials I’d bookmark them.

That would look killer with the red blood like you had before.

really love the sword.
the blue however takes a lot away from the character for me. makes it far less menacing. but that’s really a matter of personal taste and I must admit I was never into H-man.
the thing is though, the blue is more true to the original, but that was very cartoony anyway, while your version is more of a contemporary next gen Clive Barker Skeletor. that new angle is in my opinion what makes your Skeletor great, but it doesn’t mix too well with the cartoon style blue.
