Laurie's sketchbook

Here’s some of the work I’ve done on this sculpt.

Let me know what you think. Always open to some good C & C.

Thanks.

Nice work i like how you keep comeing up with more concepts.but i think you should give your work more crisp edges a mesh that has blur’y edges theres not much to focus on. i mean like when i saw the picture the first thing i looked at was the eyes its said the eyes are the window into the sole so try to give it more attention when modeling next time;) and heres a concepting trick…when makeing your creature try to picture the bones and the skull of what your makeing and picture the mucles and ware thay connect it would help greatly…

edit…and is that a SSS shader ?

Hey 3d User

Thanks for the constructive feedback.

Yeah I was a bit timid on the wrinkles and crisp edges. I try using those ideas you mentioned.

The material is not an SSS shader, just turned on the wax preview for the ‘Reflected Plastic’ material and then overlaid a Framer Matcap in Photoshop.

I hope that helps.

Thanks again for all you C & C.

Cheers

A quick paint over experiment.

looks cool the hair made a nice touch. but i do think you should give your pictures a bit of a angle so we can all see the side of your work;)

C & C welcome.

Tried a little bust vesrion too. Chest and shoulders needs some work.

Thanks

Very nice, Laurie.

Hey Trist,

Thanks for the positive feedback.

Something new, early days…

Managed to squeeze a little time in to develop this sculpt a bit further. Still a way to go.

C & C always welcome.

Thanks.

Nice job! I really like your character!

Thanks Babineau

Another concept sculpt. Still needs to be posed.

C & C always welcome.

If anyone could give me some insight into a good workflow for sculpting the sash/sarong that would be really appreciated.

Thanks.

wow man. This last one has a weird, androgenous vibe that’s just creepy as hell! THe whole thumbless bit just adds to the weird! Loving it. Crit wise the cloth is definitely the weakest link. I find that
using standard brush with a tight alpha and lazy mouse + Gravity on works fairly well for cloth folds. Also, there are some brushes by a user named Sewly (just search sewly brush here or google) that
work very well, but not sure if they work with the newer releases of zb.

Hey Wayniac,

thanks for the positive feedback and tips.

I will give your brush ideas a go.

Thanks again.

this is a really strong character design. Nice work

Thanks Stephen

Its great to hear that kind of feedback.

Here are some quick speed sculpts/ progress and thumbnail developments using the liquify and warp tools in PS.

C & C as always is super welcome.

Thanks.
