KRONK - zsphere creature (new poses)

Here is KRONK.

After many, many hours I finally finshed my first completed zsphere model. I am very pleased with my result. I sculpted the entire model in preview mode, and i am hoping to try out some posing with this guy. I did the anatomy straight out of my head so things are probably off, but then agian this is KRONK, a creature, not a human.

I finally came up with my own custom mat and light that i like. Now i know a little bit more about the different sliders and settings for mats and lights.

i will be posting more pics later. If anyone wants to see the Zsphere model or wants to see some closeups, i can post some pics of that too, just let me know.

Please feel free to comment and critique my model. Tips and feedback are ALWAYS more than welcome!

stay tuned for some posing (hopefully)

This is really really good modeling artboy! Congratulations on completing it! :+1: :+1: :+1:

Artboy,

Really, really worthy effort! This is fantastic, the model- extraordinary of course, but the lighting and material is right on, too.

Looking forward to some exotic poses now…

Sven

 fantastic, shows quite a mastery of zb

Artboy, congrats on your first completed full figure model! Your detailing is quite wonderful. The nose, feet, hands, and spinal ridges are very nicely fleshed out. Good material and lighting also…Great Job!

Dickie

Nice job. You even put some little spikes at the tip of his tail!

chapeau, artboy  I like your work on the arms and hands :+1: :+1:

It’s sure looking great…for a Kronk, its anatomy looks better than any Kronk i made  . How does your model hold in a different pose…that must be the main reason to model in Zspheres, i think !

really looks like something sculpted outta sclupy or something, nice job.

Thank you all for your comments!

wenna: thanks, i wasn’t sure if you saw my description of my workflow, but i did post it here if you are interested. it is nothing spectacular but maybe it will help someone.

Svengali, Dickie, levitateme: i am glad you like the mat and light. i was kinda aiming for a clay-type feel to it. to me it makes it feel like you can reach out and grab it.

travart, alfaeus, Abyssis: thanks! this was a very good excersise in modeling, and finally something other than just a head  alfaeus, glad u noticed the spikes, i will post a closeup later.

jantim: thanks! yes if you use zsphere to model and stay in preview mode, rather than making an adaptive skin, it allows you to go back and position the zspheres to pose the model. make sure you press the button under Tool> Morph Target> StoreMT, before you start moving zspheres around.

thanks again everyone!

more pics coming soon!

artboy

oh he is CUTE  he gave me big smile, thanks a lot … his teeth getting longer towards back make seem him smile i like that … and these cute antenna (or are these ears like shrek has  ) and his big hands are funny, and these feet … wonderful … i can really imagine the sound … slap slap slap … when he is walking along, slowly, since his long toes are a little in way… great :+1: and wonderful creative modeling !! and thanks for the smile

Congratulations, definitely worth every bit of the time you spent.
You should feel very proud.

kokoro: i am glad he made you smile! I was going for more of a friendly appeal, rather than a blood-thirtsy, nasty looking thing. Yeah i wasn’t really trying to, but the ears/antenna do look kinda like Shrek. Thanks for the kind words!

arambarri: thanks, yes i am glad it turned out so well after these long hours. if i did it over i would change some things, but i am satisfied.

Because of my old computer, i was only able to work on sublevel 7 with about one million polys. It is plenty for what i was doing but the closeups might show it more.

thanks in advance!

now for the closeups . . .

the head:

the very tip of the tail:

and the feet:

Well that’s the most accurately proportioned Kronk model I’ve ever seen! Good feel for the friendly personality. My crit would be the front of the body is noticibly less detailed than the nicely detailed rest of the body.

Alan.

The model looks great! you did mention that you could post some zsphear shots if someone asked. Well I am struggling with them a little. It seems the more models I see in that form the better I understand the process. So if it’s not a big problem I would love to see them. I am sure other would like to see them as well. Great job again on the model

angstrom: yes, thanks for the crit. i should do a some more detailing on his front side, i wasn’t exactly sure waht to detail, but i can make some stuff up. Imean a Kronk’s anatomy can be anything right?

Deadwards: yes i will post some zsphere shots soon. once you understand how they work, u will get addicted. zspheres are quick, easy, and fun!

artboy

Quote: a Kronk’s anatomy can be anything right?

Dunno. I’d have to do a Google search before I could answer that.

Alan.

Hmmm, 75 pages of Kronk’s.

Angstrom: well dont bother googling for Kronks because i didn’t mean it to be anything. I just made it up cause i liked the way it sounded. As far as i know, a “Kronk” is original with me.

DeadWards: Here are some zspheres shots. As you can see it is not very intricate, but is does the job. Magnet spheres can be a big help. I like to turn on “Minimal Skin to Child” button (“Mc” under Adaptive Skin in the Tool menu) because it creates a cleaner mesh.

Funny model :sunglasses: :+1:

i finally got around to trying out some posing. this is my first time ever do this so it may not look perfect. for some reason when certain zspheres are moved, a section around them loses all of the sculpting.

one thing that i learned fomr this was, if you are planning on posing the figure, make sure you add extra zspheres in places that you want to move when you are posing. Once you start sculpting you cannot add and delete zspheres. i probably should have add a few more zspheres in the original model. Well, here are 2 poses that i was somewhat pleased with. hope you like them!

please keep the feedack coming!! thanks!
