I wasn’t going to add anymore to this, but I have to make a correction…we do have several active members of the forum that are quite young…
LWTB is 14ish I believe
Rage I think said 16 or 17
Milk is young too I believe though could be mistaken.
There is another one that is 12, though his name escapes me.
We also have alot of young members at least at one time that were actively posting and commenting over on Renderosity.com
I must tell you that seeing young people take to the digital medium is as exciting as seeing some of the traditional artists taking to the digital as well. I wish I had the resources as a child to have pursued the direction some of these kids are taking. When I see a young member knocking out a nice image and having a technical understanding of things that are well out of my realm of knowledge at the moment is very kewl. Zbrush is pretty user friendly, and I think the forum is too for the most part. Though there are exceptions that have occurred unfortunately.
I will also add that as the winter months approach I am going to try to set up my kids an account here or let them use my name to post images. It will amount to probably no more than blobs and globs at first, but I want to see the fire spark within them. I want to see them express themselves via the digital imagery. They will get the benefit of resources I didn’t have other than the encouragement of my father when he viewed my pencil drawings and such when I was a kid.
I don’t know much about the achievement of hitting the big time with digital art because I haven’t done it yet myself but am contantly trying. My monsters have not gotten negative feedback from any of the samples I have sent out. Actually had a couple of positive feedback comments from those I submitted. But none of the umpteen submissions have come back saying, “Dude you suck or omg…I can’t believe you turned this crap into us …” you get the picture. Maybe in some circles that will happen, but I have not had that displeasure yet.
So get ready for some young Harris’s to hit the Z scene in the near future. One of the new artists will be 9 and the other 11…
I also wanted you all to know that I am inspired by alot of the young talent or by people who are working on their capabilities. Composition, subject matter, or a new twist to an image…there is always something new popping up here…
btw…this is still an interesting thread…I am enjoying keeping up with it…
