Here’s my latest finished render of something I modeled a few months ago. It’s a demon concept character I developed here at work. I modeled and painted him entirely in Zbrush and then brought him over to 3ds max and mental ray to render…crits and comments always welcome!
Oh wow. Very nice work on this thread! Awesome sculpting
Very nice sandpiper! Realy great render and ilustration. You could only refine a little bit his hand, add some detail like wrinkles on his fingers or some veins… Anyhow awesom picture!
Cool! Agree with Bryzol on the hand.
here’s some quick zbrush shots of the model…some of the detail got lost in the original render.

very nice final image. I think the nails are painted too dark… and the torso might be a little too small. it could just be the shot you picked… but other than that great final render. I love the teeth look. rock on…
Here’s my latest version of my wife’s portrait study. Not completely photoreal, but that’s ok. I enjoyed it nonetheless! Zbrush, 3ds max, mental ray, hair/fur, and photoshop.
very nice! your wife seems very pretty, which is illustrated quite well in this piece!
Top row work and a very pretty wife;)
Very cool update on the portrait. I like the style. And if she smiles like that all the time then you are a lucky guy
Jesse,
I agree with your judgement not to take it to photo real. I think you’ve done a really great job with the project. I’m sure your wife is flattered and pleased!
Gary
Another great work of yours! Keep it up!
Hi sandpiper! The portrait is awesome! It is so hard to sculpt or paint someone with a broad smile (imo) : ! I love the fact that it looks painterly: makes it far more personal. Respect,
!
mdale13: thanks! she is!
arsan: wow, thanks!
Captain Sensible: very lucky.
hyper1: thank you. She loves it of course…she’s a huge support for me as a silly ol’ artist…
bryzol: thanks man.
Etcher: She’s got one of the biggest smiles I’ve seen. Even better in real life. thanks for all the thumbs up(s)!
Here’s my latest 4 hour speed sculpt for my tutorial I did for the upcoming March 3DCreative Mag over at 3Dtotal.com. Once it’s released in a few days, you can get it here.
It’s my interpretation of Jamie Beswarick’s design (weta) of a LOTR Moria Orc. Man, I love creatures…

Oh yeah… this is awesome. I love creatures too.
Strange seeing an orc in classical contrapposto.
Ah nice.
nice orc and I’m glad it’s totally different from mine hehe
jbuck: hehe, yeah I guess so. Thought I’d mix it up a bit.
Dman3d: gracias.
Intervain: Oh good! Can’t wait to see your version Magda! I bet it’s orcalicious. (for those who don’t know, 3DCM always has two artists doing their own versions of the brief for the speed sculpt tuts for variety sake)
lol not sure about orcalicious it’s rather … funny - i’ll post it later today… anyway awesome job on yours
