nice work and especially nice smile
agrmrs: thanks, Iām trying!
Phrost: totally. My wife is definitely bugging me to get to the hair portion of this study. In time, in timeā¦
Joopson: thanks. I agree.
TheEgonaut: Me tooā¦Iām working on that part nowā¦slowlyā¦
Tomala: thanks!
Shames: thanks!
Hereās an update on her now. I tweaked the chin a bit to make it more like hers which is more feminine than I had in the previous version. About to work on those teeth now. They still need some texturing too. More to come!
Great work Jesse. You might want to watch her lips⦠The lower lip gets kinda thin as it head back to the corners. Also kinda feels like her eyebrows sit slightly higher on her brow than you have them.
Cant wait to see it finished.
Awesome sculpt of your wife! How did you do the skin shader? Is it a Matcap?
slangford: thanks sean. Iāll have a looksee again at those areas. Iāve got a grid system set up to check proportions and placement and Iām constantly tweaking and altering based on that grid. Itās definitely helped rather than just trying to eyeball the whole thing. Plus, Iāve got a few good front and side images that are much more helpful than that one ref shot I posted.
Nojahele: Thanks! Itās just a modified ToyPlastic shader. I turned down the spec and reflectivity of the original and spread it more. I kept it white so I could still get an accurate idea of the texture color thatās on there.
i love the expression, but i do agree about the eyebrows being too low. also the ear looks a little strange, especilly around the lobe area, looks very thick. also, is that a seam in the middle of her forehead? something is goin on there
thanks cory for the crits. Iām gonna check on those earlobes too. good catch. Itās nice to have all these extra eyes helping me out with the little nuances of the face. That line in the middle was supposed to be a bit of the vein that goes through there. Iāve toned it down for the max version Iām using but for a final sculpt I need to smooth that out a bit so it doesnāt look like a seamā¦
thanks again!
Ok, so hereās the final sculpt with the texture thrown on. Sheās got some eyeshadow, liner, and blush going on too. Iām moving onto mental ray shader work and getting eyelashes, brows, and hair added in 3ds max.
great updates it now has much more likeness and is really pretty.
Hey sandpiper! how r ya bro?
dude, Iām loving this one.
Almost perfect, need some tweaks, but Iām sure youāll get there.
congrats mate.
keep it up!
Excellent stuff Jesse !
I am impatient to see her finished !
Ok, hereās my progress. I changed some stuff on the model a bit and laid in some texture work. Iām still tweaking the sss in mental ray, particularly the backscatter areaā¦the ear lightingās a bit weird I know.
Eyelashes, eyebrows, hair, and all that to comeā¦
hereās what i got after a few hours work tonight. Iāve got the eyelashes modeled and I changed up some of the shaders and lighting. Dernit, now that I look at it again, sheās looking a bit shiny. Might tone that downā¦
I aim to move onto the hair stuff nextā¦thanks in advance for any crits or suggestions!
This is awesome. No critics from me.
keep it up my friend.
Marvelous work! Itās really a pleasure to discover your work! Thanks!
thanks Longhi and jin_coktez! Preciate it.
hereās a small update. I tweaked the skin surface a bit more. I noticed that some of the splotchiness and pitted look I had before came from the freckles in the color map sneaking over into my bump map! Sneaky buggers. I also took out the diffuse map because it was making things too rough looking and I donāt think itās necessary for this kind of faceā¦I arched the eyebrows a bit too (nevermind the eyebrow color) Today Iām off to explore the world of hair/fur modififer in max. Joy.
wonderful work, youāve really got it under control.
Great stuff, Imo your previous render works looks a bit better, a little life in it, the last one looks more like plastic.
thanks threetails. Iām trying!
edrice, youāre right. Now that I scroll back and forth, I see what you mean. It does look better. Hereās the new render, basically toned down the bump from the first time and turned the diffuse map back on. I think Iām just gonna stick with this one.
Sorry for the constant updates everyone - I want to move onto the hair now and would like to at least show where the model is currentlyā¦just gives me closure for a bit!
THe rim lights are at tad too strong. Also I think if you light a women with softer lights its more flattering. Old school Hollywood style! Maybe if you change the shadow color to a more reddish brown it might push the realism of the skin.
The sculpting is amazing. And she is really coming to life now with the texturing.
Good luck with the hair. That might be the hardest part! Especially material wise. You might need to light the hair seperately as well, with linked lights.
