Jesse Sandifer's Sketchbook

womball - I’m unfamiliar with Mr. Lovecraft’s writings unfortunately, but perhaps I should look into them!

pollolomo - thanks man. Yeah, I too love the fishy dudes. Especially the crazy deep sea monsters…

atahan_zugul - thanks for the encouragement man. It’s funny the little things that catch people’s eyes and turn them off to other parts of a character. No biggie. I’ll keep cranking and try my best to improve my quality as I go!

The fish head dude rocks :):).The Roman hero is really good aswell :):)love ya work:).

Ok, so I did decide to paint the fishhead bust. Polypainted that is. Onto the next batch o’ fun!!

Very very nice!

Here’s my latest little character. I call him Stonehands - he can’t get his little feet to touch the ground because of his huge rocky hands. So he just swings about as he plods his big fists around.

Very nice work bro! I like the silver sculpted creature with the boulder, very unique! That prehistoric fish guy reminds me of the cartoon Golem from lord of the rings, very cool! :+1: :+1:

heheheee… poor guy. very nice.

hahaha loved the stone hands! Great sculpts as well!! grats man!

Sorry, but his hands look very uncomfortable. Awesome work!!!

Hey guys and gals - I did a test composite of some different shaders in ZBrush for my fishhead bust. Pretty fun stuff that let me have a little fun in PS without having to do too much work. I only had to adjust some levels and color correction on a few of the layers. Very helpful when trying to get across a concept quickly.

nice composite, i like the side lighting and some of the depth that your getting, what materials did you go with?

I love Stonehands,… very cool. The roman looks a bit too straight though. Love your work man. Add more detail to Stonehands and give him a staff and a few rocks on his surrounding and it will be my wallpaper!

Here’s further exploration for a bust I did a while back. His hair’s a bit whacky, but good enough for what I needed it for. The look isn’t completely photoreal of course, but more stylized for conceptual feel. Kinda fun to play with the layer modes in PS and see what you get!

really nice…could you plez tell me what is the method you used to texture them thanx in advance:)

I really dig the Dirk Nowitzki head sculpt. You captured his essence perfectly. :+1:

Are you going to make a Josh Howard or Erick Dampier head too?

agrmrs: I textured them in Photoshop using high-res images of their faces at different angles. That way I could capture their skin quality and coloration a little easier. The render itself is a stack of different mats in ZBrush rendered out and taken into photoshop using various blending modes and intensities.

issu808: I actually did do a Josh Howard and Erick Dampier. I’ve also done a Jerry Stackhouse, DeSagana Diop, Devin Harris, and Jason Terry. I’ll tell ya that doing likenesses is quite difficult and I don’t think I completely nailed them as much as I’d like. Doing it’s a lot harder than it looks and that’s why when someone does a really great job, people really notice.

These models were made for the Dallas Mavs’ in-game opener a couple years ago (Jason Kidd was added last year obviously since he just joined the team). I had very little time to create all of them and get them ready for animation in 3ds max and if I had more time, I’d try to solidify the likenesses even more.

Anyway, if I have time to crack open the other player files and show them in my thread, I will…The problem is what I open myself up to on this forums with the “likeness police”! ha!!

Holy ****…That is impressive…:+1: :+1: :+1:

Wow, lucky you. It must be awesome to get to work on a project like this.

Did the Mavericks provided you with the high res images of the players’ face? I tried to do a Kobe head bust before but I couldn’t find any high res image of him that I can actually use for texture.

Anyway, do post your other Mavericks head busts when you have time. I am sure the entire zbrush community would appreciate it.

thanx dear it’s really worth for me:)
