agrmrs: I textured them in Photoshop using high-res images of their faces at different angles. That way I could capture their skin quality and coloration a little easier. The render itself is a stack of different mats in ZBrush rendered out and taken into photoshop using various blending modes and intensities.
issu808: I actually did do a Josh Howard and Erick Dampier. I’ve also done a Jerry Stackhouse, DeSagana Diop, Devin Harris, and Jason Terry. I’ll tell ya that doing likenesses is quite difficult and I don’t think I completely nailed them as much as I’d like. Doing it’s a lot harder than it looks and that’s why when someone does a really great job, people really notice.
These models were made for the Dallas Mavs’ in-game opener a couple years ago (Jason Kidd was added last year obviously since he just joined the team). I had very little time to create all of them and get them ready for animation in 3ds max and if I had more time, I’d try to solidify the likenesses even more.
Anyway, if I have time to crack open the other player files and show them in my thread, I will…The problem is what I open myself up to on this forums with the “likeness police”!
ha!!
