Jesse Sandifer's Sketchbook

hey thanks guys! very encouraged.

And yeah, Simon, I was planning on taking this over to max/vray/mental ray and doing some lighting action on it. Perhaps I can take advantage of the new UV Master plugin to get started. I’d like to do a nice illustration in Photoshop to really bring it to life.

I’m not sure I want to detail the feet out because I probably won’t show them in the final render - however, it just feels incomplete without detailing the feet, so I’m still pondering over that one…

More to come!!

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to encourage all my fellow Texas Zbrush artists to attend the ZBrush User Group Meeting on March 20 in Dallas. I’ll be a presenter at the meeting and I can’t wait to see all your beautiful faces!!

Happy Easter everyone!

I just wanted to announce a new thing I’m doing called Monthly ZBrush Training. If you are a ZBrush character artist looking to get some extra training, this would be for you!

It’s different than the Private ZBrush Tutoring I already offer as it’s only $14.95 per month and it’s basically a monthly video subsciption service. This is a ā€œhow I do itā€ kind of video that runs about 60 minutes usually (if not more) and will cover a wide range of topics in the world of ZBrush and how it pertains to character creation. For more information about the service and to subscribe please visit the dedicated site for my teaching/tutoring.

There is a FAQ section, a sample video excerpt, and info about me so you can feel all warm and fuzzy about signing up!

I would love to have some new subscribers signed up so we can get started this month on some cool studies. Should be fun!

  • oh yeah, I’m gonna have some new zbrush works soon…been busy. :\

I love the hair. How did you do it? How many polys is the Jesus sculpt?

Will there ever be a use meeting in Los Angeles? Are they free?

the entire Jesus Christ model is over 18 million polys with 37 subtools.

The UGM are free but I’m not sure if there’s one coming to LA. They usually announce them on the zbrush blog whenever they are doing a new one though.

Thanks for dropping in.

Something I’m working on at work. Mainly been focused on the face. Still need lots of work on the hair and, well, the rest of her entire self really.

Just a ZBrush screengrab for now…

Really cool! Simple and cute…

Would desrve a bit of sadow on the teeth and eyes + a spec hilight.

Good stuff!

Last sculpt is looking cool. Just make sure to make the eyes look convincing. I seem to be finding in general, with final render outputs even with excessive details, that the eyes don’t look convincing in some shots.

Fantastic expression. Can’t wait to see completed.

Your Tron sculpt and Jesus sculpt are amazing.

Clarification on my ā€œeyesā€ statement: That’s a general observation on sculpts from all over - not specifically aimed at sandpiper.

Did not see mentioned, young lady resembles Sandra Bullock.:+1:

Awsome job.

Love the way the wings attach to the skin of the back…really put a lot of thought into that, and the weight the man is carrying…great sense of gravity in the sculpt.

Show more please.

Damn, great stuff in this thread.

Hey Jesse, I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing your ZBrush UI configuration? Looks really streamlined and nice.

Sebcesoir: Thanks dude! Honored that you commented.

martym: Couldn’t agree with you more. This is just a zbrush screengrab so hopefully I can do a decent render later on in max/vray.

bicc39: yeah, sorta!

magicmodel: thanks buddy.

Akaikami: sure - once I figure out how to attach it…

A little update on the woman. Did some work on the hair and tweaked several minor spots on her face. Working on the shirt now. Eventually I’ll render this in Vray sometime…

Looking good so far - post a concept so I can see what your goal is!!!

Jesse - as a weekly beneficiary of your private critique sessions it is extremely interesting to see how your own work has progressed in this thread. From the very nice works in the earlier parts of the thread to the ā€œsit up and take notice - WOWā€ works from ā€œBainā€ forward. Seems you really turned a corner there in your skill level with that character. It is always encouraging to see how that the quality art was not just ā€œa born talentā€ but one that we all can aspire to achieve…with enough hard work and determination.

Very, very nice and I will be sure to keep up with your progress in the challenge you just entered. Keep up the inspiring work here and for all the great critiques you have give me over the past couple of weeks on my own work! It has been well worth the cost - well worth it indeed! Just wish I had found you sooner:).
