Ah Jesse, this is looking incredible. Just need to add some more details to the beard and some skin pores and such. Though obviously your still at WIP so I guess you’ll be getting to that.
Keep it up friend! This is looking awesome!

Hey Jesse, looking awesome!
The hair looks painful haha, but the result is great!
I suggest moving on to the rear foot and then posting a close up of it
can’t wait for updates
cheers!
Daniel
brettSinclair: yeah, the cloth has been neglected since I started working on the hair and thorns. I’m getting to all that stuff now. gotta ways to go…btw, I’m not sure what “squint” means?? :o
Nattawat_OBBI: thanks!!
dustbin1_uk: oh yes. All that’s to come…been put on the backburner for a while but it’s back on now!
Ville: yes, quite painful -glad it’s done (for now)…here’s a couple shots of the feet in it’s current state. Just major forms and such…Still have lots of texture, detail, and damage to add though…
Yeah I love how this is coming along myself and can’t wait to see it completed.
Wow…the sculpt of Jesus is so spectacular… love the hair and thorn crown.
Hey Jesse. The foot looks great.
Haha. yea the hair and thorns look like a nightmare to do.
I meant that one eye is looking at one part of the sky and the other is looking at a different part. It looks that way to me anyway. I could be wrong :).
Very nice sculpt! Keep going!
haah I bet! Thanks a lot for the foot closeups they look awesome!
Thanks guys for the kind words - Brett I fixed the eyes good crit
here’s where I’m at with the robe…I’d like to keep somewhat of a classical sculptural feel but I’m also trying to get kind of like a burlap-like quality to it. Something rough and itchy and also not too “drapy” - I used a bit of the crumple brush (awesome) and a bit of raking and alpha work to get the texture I was looking for. Also beat it up quite a bit with the malletfast and clay brushes.
Cool now I think you need to just make sure it flows and hangs on him more naturally.
Its easy to tell this is gonna be pretty sweet when its done. Maybe its the angle of both of the last two screenshots but something about that middle toe on the right foot looks inflated or bulbous or something.
hey Jesse, this sculpt is going the right way keep pushing those polys. Looking forword to the final result.
Hey, the guy could walk on water too.
Vancross and Beholder - thank you for the crit … fixed those things for now.
Mutte696: Thanks man - your work is great.
It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to really work on this project but I have made a little progress with some of his detailing this past week.
I’ve been working on the beard (I like this style rather than actual 3D hair strands) and I’ve also been adding some details to the face. Probably could use a little more skin texture too - the render lost a bit of the detail I put in.
Still need to add more but I’ve gotta be careful not to add too many wrinkles and fine lines because he’s only 33 at this point in his life. I’m also considering adjusting his eyebrows to look less “clean”
More to come and a long way to go…
Awesome man!
I really like the style of the beard too, but I’m not sure if it is working with the hair IMO… it doesn’t stand out or anything, but thinking about it gave me the feeling…
Jesse, this is looking amazing, great job. I love the style of the beard and feel that maybe the hair could use some more work. It is still a great sculpt.
Jaw dropping update my friend!
Fantastic Jesse! This would look so good painted. Hint, Hint!
Ville and poletH: I’m thinking the same thing…I like both the beard and hair but they do seem to have a hard time blending. I’m going to try and give a little more detailing to the beard with a few finer strokes. I’ll also try and do some minor inflating of the hair pieces to see if that helps and also try and give it more wavy-ness. Maybe that will help them tie together?
dustbin1_uk: thanks!!
Paint Guy: ha! yeah, I actually plan on doing a render with this when I’m done as something that evokes some emotion. I’m excited but I wish I could move a little faster on this one! Just not enough big blocks of time in my schedule these days…
Nice work!
My 2 cents. I think the hair would be better off if it ways sculpted as one mass. Similar to this Sideshow sculpt http://www.sideshowtoy.com/prodblog/aragorn_sculpt-side.jpg That is unless you plan on doing some kind of hair shader.
