I bought a new machine and couldnt get Zbrush to run, panicked, came to the forum, tried everything suggested, no luck, panicked some more and then saw the part about switching off the welcome screen and getting the latest OS update. That seems to have done the job. So Thanks again!

Mocha, kill all those PPC apps running! You have to try and stay away from those if at all possible, as they keep Rosetta busy. It’s a great technology if you ABSOLUTELY have to have a PPC app run under Intel and ONLY for that.
Several I see listed already have updates.
Either way, try killing them and then running Zbrush. Let me know.
Hhi Jason, this goes back to an earlier message when we I was told that all I had to do was turn off the spash screen.
Well as you mentioned we had tried it before but to see what happens on a totally clean Intel Mac (My “OLD” Macbook Pro), turning off the Splash screen made no difference at all I still had to do the restart thing. This was using 10.4.8.
When I put the update to 10.4.9 in, then it made a difference, but I still have to do multiple restarts occasionally and I certainly try to keep those PPC items to a minimum preferable Zero.
So yes Zbrush does work fine once it takes so to speak on a totally clean system.
Sorry I took so long to get back with you on this.
We might becoming to the end of this thread, but I am sure you will be helping us figure out other issues once the new Version is released.

Dude, just kill them and try Zbrush. They’ll all come back later. Printer drivers should all have updates that are native. I’m NOT telling you to DELETE them, just kill them so they are not running.
I’m trying to install ZBrush 2 on my Intel Mac for the first time. But now I’m stuck with version 155b. It asks me to enter the temporary serial number from the text file but it doesn’t accept it. So I cannot install version 2. Is this a problem with Intel?

I have ZB2 installed and ZB3 on the WinXP side. Both are fine except the XP side seem a little slow on any menu item but now on the sculpt. So I anticipating a MacTel then I’m going whole hog with Pixologic.

I also installed ZB3 on the Windows side and it runs extremely fast. But I cannot install Z2 because the temp serial number for Z155b is not accepted.

If you have ZB2 and want it to run (upgrade from ZB1.5) you just need to contact support. You no longer need the ZB1.5 serial,but you do need to resubmit the text file as described in the instructions originally. Then a new UI license can be generated.
I did it this way, no issues what-so-ever. And it allowed me to finally get rid of good old ZB1.5!
