Image Plane 4 -- Information, Installation and FAQ

as a general request: one thing that i would love in the docs-

if there are multiple ways to do a specific thing, can you guys in one place compare and contrast the differences?

for the pros, i’m sure they know the differences intimately.

but for those of us less well versed, i barely know all the functinality that exists, nevermind knowing the subtle differences and dos and donots depending on situation.

i have the sense that there are now several places where zb offers different methods of doing the same task … but again, as someone less well versed… i’m not exactly sure what they are…

: )

jin

p.s. but something that tugs at my mind is that there are things in zb now that are doable in 3d now where before, we’d have to drop to canvas and then pick up… but i’m not… sure…

heey WE ARE GREAT

thank you~

Hey, everyone, i am really loving the image plane plugin… one thing i want to ask is, could u possibly add a feature where i could scale the model on the canvas and the plane would follow? kinda of like locking the model to the plane but only allowing scaling and translation…

kudos./

That wouldn’t really be possible using a background image. But you can do this easily by having the reference image applied to a plane that is a subtool of your model. This is the way the Image Plane X ztool works. That way the image and model will scale together.

Thanks very much.
GOOD

gracias…gracias…gracias

So I’m new to Zbrush, but I’m getting some lessons from a very seasoned friend, and he turned me onto using a background image to place my tool over, so I can sculpt in the various views (in this case for portrait work). I can load the background image, and I load the tool. I can adjust and sculpt on the tool, but what i don’t have is the Reference Views button (under Image Plane), or the Model Opacity Slider. I’ve looked through as many posts and tutorials I could find, I just picked up Zbrush and it’s fully up to date, so I don’t know why I don’t have those options. Perhaps it’s because I’m using a Mac version, but I can’t imagine that that is the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Alfred

Hey guys…i cant find the download link to image plane 4? when i go trough this thread it takes me to the download center and form there to a link to image plane 3.1? what gives? its really confusing…the logos and titles say many differnet things…one say plugins for z4r4 yet the image plane logo says z4r2 and teh link gors to image plane 3.1

thanks for your help

The plugins UI seems to be working fine but no matter what file type I choose I’m not seeing anything in the main window other than the default colour.

APSculpt,
The Reference Views feature has been restored in the P2 update for ZBrush 4R4. Please follow the instructions here for updating:
http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?170338-Questions-amp-Troubleshooting-for-ZBrush-4R4-Update-2

gasoil,
The plugins for ZBrush 4R4 are currently only available through the install of ZBrush 4R4. If you installed ZBrush 4R4 and Patch 2 (see above) correctly then you should have the latest versions of the plugins.

Argyll9846,
What version of ZBrush are you using?

Thanks Marcus - I’ll do that in the morning as the server is very slow at present.

I’ve just installed the update and this is still broken - it isn’t working as it should unless Double is activated. The version reads 4R4 P2. I must say this is extremely disappointing.

Argyll9846,

Can you explain what you are trying to do? I’m not aware that Double needs to be activated for Image Plane (but it does for Projection Master, if you want to paint double-sided).

Thanks,

Yeh sorry about that - my mistake and a post in the wrong place (two posts with errors going at the same time). The above relates to Projection Master that isn’t working as expected.

OK, no problem.

Hi all. Newbie here.
I can’t seem to find a link to download image plane. If i go to the download centre at Pixologic, there’re a bunch of different plugins summarised. I click on the “more about image plane 4” and it takes me here, where it tells me I can download it from the page I’ve just come from.
I’m going in circles, can anyone help.
Thanks very much

All plugins for 4R4 are now included with the ZBrush installer. If you didn’t install them when you installed ZBrush simply install them again. An update to Image Plane was also included in the P2 update (see the sticky at the top of this forum).

Thank you very much

Good job
