Image Plane 4 provides an easy way to load images into ZBrush for use in texturing and polypainting, as well as for background reference while modeling.

  • Easily load a background image when a model is in Edit mode.
  • For ZProject polypainting, quickly change the background image without leaving Edit mode.
  • For Projection Master texturing, the image is automatically wrapped onto your model.

New in this version of Image Plane is Reference Views:

  • Store 8 different views of your model
  • Store a different reference image for each view
  • Adjust the model transparency
  • Quickly cycle through the views
  • Save and load Reference Views projects

:large_orange_diamond: Frequently Ask Questions

Q: Where can I get help for Image Plane 4?
A: Post your questions in THIS THREAD.

Q: Doesn’t Spotlight do all this?
A: Spotlight and Image Plane do similar things but in different ways. Image Plane 4 has been released so that you can use whichever you prefer. Also some tutorials for earlier versions of ZBrush require the Image Plane plugin, so with this update those tutorials are still good.

Thanks aurick !!! I was wondering when this one is going to be released !

Wow, that’s great. Thank you for such useful update

Thanks Aurick:+1:

Wow, this is such an improvement over the previous way to use image planes. I never used them because I found the process kind of tedious. Very smooth and intuitive now. I had a scene set up within a couple minutes of downloading the plug. Thanks a lot.

Great, this is going to make things easier! :+1:

Thank you, thank you again and again. :+1:

all i gotta say is … SWEET!

How can you have FAQ, when the post is 58 minutes old?

I guess this might be a dumb question but how is this more intuitive/better than spotlight?

I tried to use it just now and found it pretty cumbersome compared to spotlight…

Oh man, I’ve been waiting to get this back! This just made my day - Thank you guys so much!

thx marcus et al.

Sorry in my haste to be a wise ass, totally forgot.
Thank you Marcus!

Thanks very much, we’ll be using this at Gentle Giant for sure.

Very nice. I use Image Plane to capture matcaps via displacement. Other than that what does imageplane do that spotlight doesn’t?

Yes!! Finally

very useful!

Fantastic!

Its funny, I was asking about a way to toggle on and off the image in image plane without loosing the functionality, and then this comes along a week later!

Granted you have to go about it by keeping one of your slots clear, but still it works wonders!

Only thing I would like to see is a display toggle for the image so I can quickly view my model without the reference up muddying up the viewport.

Great Plugin!

…up date :+1:
