I’m working on an update for ZBrush 4.0.
I am using Zbrush 3.5 R3 and loaded the image plane plugin, when I go to projection master and attempt to load an image it says image plane doesn’t work with projection master.
LuckyC - You don’t need to use ZBrush 3.5R3. It’s a free upgrade to version 4. Contact Pixologic with your registration details and you’ll be sweet!
do u know why it wont work with 3.5 in projection master?

To use with Projection Master you’ll have to wait for the ZBrush 4 version of Image Plane.
Marcus, thanks for hard your work.
I hope all goes well for the Image Plane Z4 update, although coding is 80% debugging, 20% get the idea working.
Really really there is a lot of people we need it and be grateful for your work.
Hi I’m totally new to sculpting. I’m having alot of trouble setting up and modelling a image cube. I’m running zbrush 3.5r3 on vista could someone please tell me how to set up and model using a image cube I would really appreciate it . Thanks.
Any news on a Zb4 version?

Hello Guys, was looking for some advice.
I’ve installed the Image plane plug in and when I click on it, it asks me to select my texture. I then select my texture and click on ‘Open’.
But at this point, I can only see my texture loaded in the texture palette, but in the tools palette, I see it creates a blank ‘Plane3D’ tool, but it has no textures on it (not even in the subtool menu) and my canvas is just blank.
The ‘Move’ Icon is highlighted at the top of the screen, but I cant see anything.
If I select the actual ‘Plane3D’ tool that has been created, it just draws it onto the canvas using a white flat colour.
Can anyone please help me and tell me what I am doing wrong??
Many thanks in advance,
Regs
Keith
Oh, forgot to mention that I’m using Zbrush 3.5R3
Keith160377,
You are using the wrong version. You need the version of Image Plane available from the Download Center (under the ZBrush 3 tab).
Hi Marcus, thanks very much, just tried the new download plug in and it worked!
I think what happened was that I downloaded the one from the front page :S
Thanks again for you help, most appreciated!!!
Regards,
Keith
What happen to image plane in z4?
I just whant to put a picture in the background for ref.
Is it in spotlight that you do that?
I see it can be done, like the great movie on the confederate bike.
Image Plane 4 is done and in beta testing.
The reference image in the bike movie is done using a polymesh plane as a subtool (all the flat parts of the bike are created by doing an extract after masking the plane.) This is the basic workflow:
- Load the Plane.ZPR from Lightbox>Projects.
- Turn off Tool>Geometry>Smt and subdivide a few times. This is so that the plane has enough density to work with Spotlight. You’ll probably need at least a million points.
- Load Spotlight and the image of your choice.
- Turn on RGB and turn off ZAdd.
- With a large draw size, transfer the Spotlight image to the plane.
You’ll now be able to append your model to the plane and use it as reference.
HTH,
Thank you Marcus, you guys are GREAT !!
Not working for me, period.
I follow all the instructions-exactly-from every tutorial, and still nothing. All I get is an extra Plane3D tool, and nothing in the background of my current tool. The image isn’t even on the new Plane3D tool. It’s literally nowhere.
Am I the only person that cant get an image plane in the background at all? I’m using Zbrush4, but i couldn’t get it to work in Zbrush3 either. I’ve tried every format of image and still nothing.
I hope someone can help.

Lukoi,
For ZBrush 4 you need Image Plane 4, available from the Download Center. Make sure you completely uninstall any previous version.
I’ve done that, I’ve even uninstalled and reinstalled Zbrush altogether. Still nothing.
Please show a screenshot of your ZStartup/ZPlugs folder. That will help narrow down the problem.
