Head of a Woman

I posted this on CG Society, but thought I’d post it here too. I haven’t really been active on this forum, but now that they’ve asked me to participate in the beta, I’ll be around a lot. I was glad to see the previous post “Study of Anne” and hope to see more like it.

I’ve been doing 3 hour 3d figure studies in front of live models for a while now. Needless to say zbrush is an integral part of that process. They are quick sketches, meant to study form, texture and light. There is no better way to study than in front of a live model. I encourage all of you to try it. Go to a local painting workshop with a 3 or even 6 hour pose. I’ll post some of them here sometime (or you can see some of them >>here<<.

I haven’t been to figure painting in a while, my wife and I just had our first baby. So in the mean time, here is a finished piece based off of my studies. There is a high-res (3k) version >>here<<.

wow, what a super piece. love the classic lines and style, very sensitive aproach to the sculpt. would love to hear about your process and see the way you achieved that look. Ausome…

i like it alot very life like the way you expressed form and mood cant wait to to see what you do with the beta and congratsulations on being inducted into to the beta team cant wait to see what you do next!!!

Are you supposed to be saying that? I thought the Beta stuff was top secret!

I loved this peace on CGtalk, love it here to. Very classy figure study and its not a head. I predict a top Row here too. 5 stars.

I had the chance of sculpting a clay anatomy study with live models. Very fun stuff! Although the figure ended up getting horns and breast tassels (it was female).

Excellent 5 star work! I’ve seen this on CG Society, I’m glad you’ve decided to post it here. CG Society is getting ridiculous with all the micro crits. Anyway, Great work! :+1:

This is marvelous work. I love the classic style you put on. And the skintone’s very nice. How did you achieve it? Was it rendered in ZB?

Top row vote

Nice!
Beta testing too…even nicer…
Can’t wait to see more.

 Hey, I wanna beta too.

Ay caramba! I’m totally blown away. Anything you can show us of your process in creating this masterpiece would be greatly appreciated. this is ART!

Most definitely one of the most beautiful Cg pieces I have seen!

Excellent :+1:

Thank you for this. Thank you for telling them all to look at the real thing and practice, it’s so lonely doing things the proper way. Well, OK not that lonely as a few people around here get it.

Oh yeah - Welcome!

Beautiful texture-work Jeremy :+1: and so nice to see a model that has some
‘weight’ to her flesh also  Excellent

Very deserving of top row, exquisitely done! The thing I like the most about the piece is my preference for its what I love to utilize and play with which is color variation and intensity. Life drawing in college was the class I enjoyed the most though I must say it was also the hardest in many ways. Though the exponential growth experience you gained drawing from life surely can pay high dividends. :+1: :+1:

It’s beautifull… Is this 3D or 2D, or both? :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Beautiful!!:+1:
But more the elephant be a painting.

TOP ROW!!!

EXCELLENT!!!

A beautiful piece of art. Awesome job, especially on the textures, lighting, and the pose!

Work like this is what makes me keep bashing my brains out trying to get better at 3D.

Congratulations on Top Row!

What a wonderful piece. I love the “old school” touches you have added. Has a Fine Art feel to it. T’is as fine as any oil portrait I have seen.

I share your views on live model poses… Ah… the good old art school days

I miss Monday life class (16 years ago :frowning: )

Good Job pal.

The colors on the arms are beautiful!
great render.
