Very sweet, I like the flesh tone and the lighting and render are cool, is that skin material something you made special, or from an available ZB material? Very nice work.
Great finish Thanks again for sharing.
Lemo - Stop picking on that poor owl. It may have had a developmental disabillity you know.

UltraCool Thread … and AWSOME Model here…
…
Nice one.
I just found my way in here after seeing some digital stuff and thinking how Monstermaker/Rick’s personality shines through no matter what medium he works in. One of the things I love most is the true sense of gravity acting on the soft tissues which is so easy to forget in digital. As for Ray’s stuff, my friend was a “Kong kid” but one of my earliest memories is my Dad letting me stay up really late (after a nap) to watch Jason. Scarred me for life … and then came that flick with the big spaceship flying over at the start!
In that spirit, I hope it’s not too sycophantic if I do a little photoshop tribute myself. I’m super excited about the new film and I just couldn’t help doing a quick concept-y thing. I know the thread’s probably done with and no-one will see it but it was just a quick bit of fun and a tangible way to show my excitement at all Rick’s digital stuff and the promise of more film-y Monstermaker monsters!
Thanks Rick and all you amazing zbrush guys! I might finally make the jump to 3d - I’m pretty hyped!
But your website is temporarily down, so I’m having trouble finding any contact details for you, hence this unconventional approach.
I am a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Leeds working in the field of classical reception and finalising a paper on Harryhausen’s cyclops that I first gave at a conference (http://enduringcreatures.blogspot.co.uk/) and in which I made reference to (and attributed) your efforts. The published version of my paper will be available free online (http://www2.open.ac.uk/ClassicalStudies/GreekPlays/newvoices/) and I was very much hoping to be able to include your winning entry and this moodily lit version. So, I’d like to ask about your copyright position in that regard. If you would like to read the final version of the paper before making a decision, please get in touch (e.r.okell) via email (@leeds.ac.uk) or Twitter (ErosOK). A 5 minute version of the paper (for a non-specialist audience) is available as an online video http://bettakultcha.com/2012/09/eleanor-okell-on-the-cyclops/.
Many thanks,
Eleanor
Eleanor, you can use them.it is ok with me.
That’s wonderful news. He’s a fantastic Cyclops and way better than any of the actual cinematic Cyclopes I’ve had to look at for the article, of which I attach a pre-publication copy.
Very best,
