It’s always refreshing to see your work because it’s one of the few places I can see successful workflows for relief sculpture. Thanks for posting your processes as well as your products (which are amazing)!

Hi Lexx, I just love these last few pieces! As always great works!

Absolute agreement with Chalkman - these are lovely!!
Very elegant control of surface and design.

May I ask what is the starting point for the creature designs? Are they shadowboxes - something else?

WOW! That is beautiful work!!!

Thank You For Sharing! Dan.

Very nice work Lexxx69! I found this thread and it makes me really want to get ZBrush. I don’t have it yet.

I’ve been making height map patterns for wood carving for a while now. But I’ve been ding it using gimp raster software like the image below. What I’m wondering is can I import one of these height map images into zbrush and then fix it up to look smoother and touch up the details in 3D view?

I don’t think I could get results like the ones on this thread but I’m just wondering what the possibilities are.

I love working with the pen tool to define shapes and then airbrushing the height into them, it is so easy to do it this way.

In raster I use layers with layer modes of darken only to mesh layers in together. But can you use ZBrush to kind of make separate objects and mesh them in together? Or does ZBrush have a pen tool for doing shapes with easy handle manipulation?

David, Thank You! Always nice to see You and read kind words from You!
Sincerely Leo.

boozy floozie, Thank You!

No it’s not a shadowbox. I used a program MoI (Moment of Inspiration). And a little ArtCam. To set the stage. And then sculpted in ZBrush.
