Here’s my latest Greeble object. My Greeble Wall, why make a Ship or Probe when you can make some Sci-Fi Architecture. Now someone drop a Face Hugger Egg in there and we have the start of a new Aliens Movie. I’ll have a Video shortly of it. Enjoy
Is that an “examination” table for probing humans??? =O
Great work Glenn! ;)
I’ll try to put something together for you on how I go about using SP in a few days.
Thanks! :)small_orange_diamond

I’ll check out the link you gave us, too.
Displacement Modeling and UV’s in Zbrush. Texture/Materials in Substance Painter. Final Rendering in Element 3Dv2.

The Substance Painter tutorials are Digital Tutors quality!
Started downloading the first 5 of part 1.
Still want to see how you use it, too.
Thanks for turning us on to it. ;)
Yeah, SP is pretty cool…will have to save my lunch money for it.
I like this kind of painting…don’t get any on me.
But
having a small problem with MirrorWeld, though…trying to mirror the displacement map:
Before Mirror Weld
After MW …LOL!
megacal try changing the axis of the mirror weld to y or z. I know I get confused sometimes on which way is which especially modeling on a sphere. Have Fun with SP, I’ll try to put something together Tonight about a workflow to quickly model, displace, and setup UV’s for SP.

Thanks, but don’t see the option to change the axis (?)
Maybe if I use your GUI layout instead?
Look on the right side of button there’s a xyz option, click x off and activate y or z
…doesn’t exactly jump out at you!
I’ll ask for it in 5R1x.
(but will check the manual & tutorials to see if there’s a way
to make the current xyz more obvious =)
Thanks!;)
Guess it’s not possible to make the xyz larger…just have to remember it.
The Button Size slider affects the size of interface items. Setting the slider to a higher value will increase the size of buttons, switches and so on.However, note that the text on the buttons does not increase in size

Sweet! Now you need one skimming across the desert floor, racing towards the camera, kicking up a ton of Dust behind him.
Nice work, megacal!
Thanks guys! Think I’m finally starting to get the hang of it.
Basic mesh modeled in Hexagon; detailed in ZBrush 4R7 with

Nice! Yeah, I’d say you’re getting the hang of it, megacal!! Love that inset engine area! Super work!
Now it just needs some sound effects! Don’t make me have to fire up the recording studio!
Great Job! Thats Awesome!
morbius,

That would be awesome!
Audio has always been something I’d like to add, but my weakest area. One of these days…
gmp1993,
Now you need one skimming across the desert floor, racing towards the camera, kicking up a ton of Dust behind him.
I’ll see what I can do…probably could pull it off in Blender.
Carrara actually has the best animation system (of the apps I use) to do it, i.e. skimming close to the ground, through canyons, like Independance Day when Will Smith had an alien ship on his tail.

Design for my next Tutorial. Going to have a 3 Part Series. 1st will be in Zbrush using Zmodeler to create Low Poly Mesh then use a Displacement Map to create the Panels, and Finally set up UV’s to export out of Zbrush. 2nd will be in Substance Painter to bake maps and give it a Grungy Rusted Look. 3rd will be in Element 3Dv2 to set up your final Render with Optical Flares for the Lens Flares. Hopefully later this week I can get it out to you, just gotta work out some of the Kinks.

Sounds great, Glenn!
Looking forward to it (especially exporting UV’s from ZB)!
I don’t have the other software, but I have others that I can do it in anyway. And besides, I think I’m going to be playing ‘catch-up’ for awhile. Lots to learn!!
You, sir, are a wonder! Your efforts on our behalf are very much appreciated! Just like in Modoland, the old ‘hacker ethic’ is clearly not dead around here.
Many thanks!
Crank up the sound! Here’s the re-make with a cool soundtrack many thanks to Morbius! ;)small_orange_diamond

assembled sequence & added Morbius’s soundtrack in Blender 2.73…whew!)
