GoZ Installation and issues - Manual install

Does anyone know what to do with this error? I followed the instructions as closely as I could but have gotten this message when I try to use GoZ with this new update. It was working before this with the original GoZ.

I am using a macbook pro 15 inch, running OS 10.6.7. I have Zbrush 4.0 and this error happened when I went through the process of setting it up.

Thank you for any help you can offer.screen.jpg

I can’t update GoZ for Cinema 4D R12.043. I get the attached error message every time I try to install it from the GoZ menu in Zbrush. What am I doing wrong? GoZ was working perfect before I tried to install this update and now I can’t go back since the old files are gone. I am on Mac OS X 10.6.7.

I have tripplechecked the permissions set for the whole Application folder, Maxon Cinema folder and Zbrush 4 (by right clicking -> 'show info' on Mac) Everything is set to be 'read and writeable' by 'admin' and 'everyone'. Please help! Thanks! // Tennet![GoZ_fromCinema4D_error.jpg|640x424](upload://sJRUQH5XsAi87kwax2YvNbQaepq.jpeg)

When ZBrush is asking for a login and password from an admin user, did you do this step?

Does anyone have any information for mine? I don’t know what MAYA app pack is or how to give permissions. I honestly have no idea what this is.

Could anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks for any help you can offer.

@totyo - Sure! When clicking ‘update all paths’ in GoZ preferences it finds Cinema R12 and Photoshop, it asks for my admin password for each of them, I type it in and then it “thinks” for a while and suddenly the error pops up.

I do get the same error for Photoshop also, even though my permissions are set to ‘read/write’ for all users.

If I try to GoZ a ZTool from Zbrush to Cinema then nothing really happens. The script runs when clicking it, but nothing is imported in Cinema. I can see though that the mesh that I try to send from ZB is copied to the ‘Goz projects/default’-folder, but nothing is opened in Cinema…

I have followed the ‘step by step’-manual over and over. When it wasn’t working then I tried to install the script ‘GoZfrom Cinema’ manually, copying the new ‘csc’-file to the scripts folder (following the manual installation steps), but this doesn’t work either… When I start Cinema again and try to “GoZ a mesh” (from Cinema to ZBrush), then I get a message saying that I need to select my mesh and click GoZ again (I have a screenshot with the exact message, just forgot to post it). The mesh was already selected and doing so again just results in the same message?

Tennet: please open a ticket at the support center and ask it to be assigned to Thomas (me). Please mentionne your ZBC nickname, it will help me track your problem easier

snasitra: I’ll post later today a step by step for changing the permissions on OSX and windiws, I just need to figure out how to change the system language to english…

Ok, i will. Thanks!

Any news yet? I can try and re-install Zbrush also… would that help (I don’t want to delete and reinstall everything if I don’t need to)? Do I need to 'Deactivate" Zbrush before I uninstall it or should I just delete the old Zbrush folder and make a new installation? (using Mac OS X)

Thanks.

Did you open a ticket? If yes, what is the number?

Yes, the ticket-ID is TDV-491008.

Hi !

I have multiple instance launching with maya 2012 too.
I’ve tried everything that was told here but nothing work.

I tired reinstalling, maya. No.

Any new solution ?

The new Shelf is installed and Maya send the model to ZBrush but when I hit the goZ button again he launch a new instance of Maya instead of updating the current opened Maya.

I’m having the same problem with maya opening up again and again.
also working on a model with about 30 subtools and there are quite a few that don’t load up into maya but do perfectly fine in 3dsmax, maya comes up with this error
// Error: File not found. // after most of them load in sucessfully, is there a limit to how subtools can load into maya at one time? same results in 2011 too.
hopefully this can be fixed soon :+1:

hey hey guys,

I am running into this problem…

After error Maya opens fine. it must have somthing to do with the obj “tamplate”

anyone else have this?

Goz worked fine before i updated it. just wish i still had the old one error.jpg

Did you try to reinstall? It’s a file which is missing, that’s why you have such error.

as i thought , which file is missing? the obj tamplate? and i have tried it several times now same result

I have Maya 2011 and Photoshop CS5 on a Windows 7 machine. GoZ works great both ways with Maya just fine. When I hit the Goz button, it sends the mesh to Maya and all is good.

But now I want GoZ to use Photoshop. But the GoZ plugin only asked me the first time which application to use, so I chose Maya.

How to I make GoZ now launch Photoshop instead of Maya? How do I get that initial menu back again (the one that asks me which application GoZ should use)?

All help appreciated.

@montanaman- press the single letter button ‘R’ located after the ‘goz all’ and the ‘Visible’ button. There you can reset your goz app and change it.

@Totyo - Any news about my submitted ticket? I see that it has changed name from “TDV-491008” to “ESO-905172” and the status is changed to “Escalated”? Haven’t got any reply from Pixologic yet. Need your help. Thanks!

tyrellcorp: when upgrading GoZ, you added/replacing the tempaltes in the ZStartup/ExportTamplates or you removed all the existing ones and add what was in the zip file?
You should have 7 files in this folder

tennet: it’s just a change of status in the ticket support, don’t take care of it. We are currently trying to discover what are the common mistakes about the maya multiple instances. Then I don’t forget you

Every time I use Goz!!! I only can export one subtool to 3DS Max, then I have to save and restart 3ds max to use Goz again—Is like the bridge between Zbrush and 3Ds max disconnect after first try – hmm back to “GoMax”
