GoZ Installation and issues - Manual install

For those who still have issues, please open a ticket on the support center (http://support.pixologic.com) and don’t forget to fill your profile with your hardware information and license information. Please, if you already explain your problem in this thread, provide the URL where your message appears, including your ZBC nickname (it makes our work easier :).

And in your message add a note at the beginning to request that your ticket has to be assigned to Thomas (me)

iskon: then ok, it comes from here I think.

TeckZ: please, use an online service which is in english. Except having attempts to install tool bar, I haven’t been able to download your STL

power-3d: quit ZBrush, go in your public/pixologic folder (see the install instructions) and trash its content, then copy from the zip files the corresponding folder in the pixologic folder. I’m sure it’s an issue in the replacement of the files. If other applications appears in GoZ, then Photoshop must appears. (or as usual, permissions issues)

boxset: it’s the Pixologic folder which appears on your screenshot.

HaloAnimator: ZBrush always send the lowest level of subdivision. Then you must go on the second level of subdivision, then delete the lower level. At anytime, if you didn’t change your topology, you can reconstruct the deleted lower level of subdivision.
GoZ for Photoshop only support one Tool/SubTool at the time, sorry.

Phrost: as mentionned in the Zbrush message, it’s a permission issue. please, go in the Photoshop Plug-In folder and create inside a GoZ folder, then put the GoZ photoshop plugin files, like mentionned in the manual install PDF provided with the GoZ update zip file.

If you have Cinema 4d, modo, Maya and Photoshop in a workflow, with GoZ how do you tell GoZ to switch between them without having to update the paths each time? (I might not have asked this correctly).

Phrost: please, open a ticket and ask to have your ticket assigned to Thomas (me)

TeckZ: I’ll check your file this week end. But you know, the tech support is not hearthless at all! And for most of the GoZ issues, it will be me who will handle them, then I’ll do the same that i’m doing here at ZBC

begemot1: this is a strange message as GoZ doesn’t use the network. Did you check the link provided for the Microsoft KB?

jBibble: click on the small “R” on the right of the GoZ buttons, as mentionned in the ZBrush 4 what’s new PDF :stuck_out_tongue:

About Maya multiple instances:

The multiple instance of Maya bug is caused by different problems:

  • The GoZ mel script is not found when the userSetup.mel is loaded by Maya
  • This GoZ script can’t be read even if the path is good because of permissions issues (thanks to Windows…)
  • Multiple instances of the userSetup.mel exist on the user computer and Maya isn’t loading the one with the added script line for GoZ.
  • Because of an error in the userSetup.mel before the GoZ line, the script stop and then, GoZ isn’t loaded.

If the Maya Shelf can’t be created, it means that GoZ isn’t loaded in Maya, that’s why each time the GoZ button is hit in ZBrush, a new instance of Maya is launch.

I have the same problem and nothing sending with Goz from Zbrush to Max 2012, but from Max to Zbrush is fine… Help!

I reply myself - I reinstall GoZ update after removing checkmark in Privilege Level in Run this program as an administrator for Zbrush 4 - this solve my problem. Everything is fine!!!

Everything is working fine for me except that the plugin doesn’t show up in the automate menu in Photoshop. I’ve tried Force reinstall several times and the GoZ plugin is showing up in the Plug-ins folder. So I can’t send it back to Zbrush.

seventri: for GoZ Photoshop on Mac OSX with CS5 Extended, you must run Photoshop in 32 bits mode. To do this, just open the Photoshop.app information window in the finder and click on the checkbox “Run in 32 bits mode” (or similar). it will fix your problem.

For Maya users with multiple instances of the application, take care of not running ZBrush as an administrator and check if Maya isn’t in this mode too (as a test)

@Totyo, are you aware of any ETA on a 64bit Photoshop GoZ plugin. Much of my Photoshop work is on VERY large files(1gig+); I need access to the extra memory in 64bit mode, so I’m constantly having to turn on and off the 32bit mode to use GoZ. Any info would be appreciated.

uaun: I can’t give you an accurate ETA, but we will release the Mac OSX 64 bits version for Photoshop as soon as possible!

Now it working!

Begemot1: what did you do to fix your problem?

Yes, I had this issue with Norton 360 5.0. When attempting to use GoZ from 3ds Max 2012 for the first time sonar deleted GoZMakeObjectPath.exe. Strangely, goz still seemed to work fine without the file, but I have since replaced it and sonar didn’t attempt to delete the file after that for the rest of the day. However, i just tried it again today and it deleted the file again.

I have simply added the file to the exclusions list for sonar scans.

Here is temporary fix for maya 2012 users.

Not very good, but it is only one that i was able to find… hope it helps…

  1. Select path to Maya in ZBrush and choose “Not installed”(he-he)
now, every time you will send subtool to maya, ZBrush will worn you, that maya path ccannot be find - thats OK
  2. Switch to maya and type in command line or script editor or maybe you wanna make button on shelf with this command:

GoZUpdate;
and maya scene will be updated with new subtool …i hope

Thats all)))

I didn’t have this issue until I updated Goz. It only happens on some objects when I bounce from 3ds max, into Zbrush, they endup centered at a different point in space, way below the model. Now, I know what your thinking, I moved something and messed it up >…> Well, I tried doing things like reseting Xform, and unifying the points in zbrush, but it still is messed up. It will import most of the sub tools just fine, but every odd one it just throws off into space. This wasn’t happening before I updated at all.

fixed

It’s because you renamed your object or you did an operation which rename your object. And please, don’t forget that it’s the week end and then, we are not always behind our screens
