Funky's 3d sculptage

really like you style. awesome sculpt.

thanks a ton for the kind words SolidSnakexxx, boozie floozie, Fabricio Torres, igor_catto, Jäckel, Sammeh, lazy noob, sgrell, uuderzo, farhadnojumi, cydethan, tyrellcorp, xada, Lou, Interu2x, and grimjaw83 !!! I really appreciate it

and Aazv17: I usually use Zbro’s amazing matcaps from http://luckilytip.blogspot.com/, but this time since it was a more cartoony character I thought it’d be more appropriate to use Modeling Clay, I usually just flip through a few materials that I think might look good for a particular piece
As for the teeth, since it was cartoony I thought it was best to keep that detail really minimal. All i did was squish a cylinder and lightly run a sharp brush along the end of the gap between each tooth

hey I love that ice-cream girl! <3

Great stylization…Except that Turkey hand which scare me a little

Really digging the style here FB. Did I know you on another forum at some point? Threedy maybe?

Got it! Thank you very much for the link and the tips!

Thanks Uber and Tattoocalypse! hahah it did shatter all those fond memories of making handturkey crafts as a kid :o

MonteCristo, holy crap man I’m surprised you’d remember me at all. Although maybe I’m more worried that you do remember ahahaha. But I definitely learned a ton from checking out work from the madmen and moderators like you! Threedy was an awesome place!

Aazv17: no problem, man

If I had an ice-cream like that, I’d swallow it entirely!

lol thanks Kerem!

I thought I’d do another one, this one’s sorta a uhh colorful surreally ethereal swirly lady!
Hope you like it!

I also recorded a timelapse, but I’m afraid I didn’t really use any of the cool features that I’d planned to try out for this one. I’ll try to use some zbrush features I haven’t played with much next time! But I hope you find it interesting!

Oh wow! You make it look so easy! A fine female face within the first 30 seconds of the timelapse? Magic! I love how much control you seem to have over complex, dense meshes. Personally I always have to battle the bumps to get those smooth forms. The final piece is lovely, a nice way to spice up a ‘simple’ nude.

Thanks for the tips as well. I’ve seen all your videos, and I’m really envious of your smooth, flowing strokes. But what brush do you use for the hair strands? It looks like damien standard, but for the life of me I can’t get the same smooth results…

cool mate…how did you extract the body meshes with the mask?

thanks a ton, Nagulov! I always thought the brush i use is very similar to dam_standard but I guess I haven’t used it in a while so I’m not quite sure. I use some brush profile alphas that were released a few years ago by the amazing Andy Nisbet (Mr. Kite) and I just apply it to a standard brush - I usually use a sharp one, but since it’s just a regular standard brush there would be no pinching, unlike Dam_Standard

and thanks, Marco! To get the ‘shell’ of the body I actually didn’t do a full extract, though I could have just as easily in Tool->Subtool->Extract. I was just getting impatient and was afraid it’d take too long and itd be super high poly. Instead, I just hit Tool->Geometry->Edgeloop->Edgeloop Masked Border and then inflated inwards and deleted the rest  It was just a quick hack to get sorta the look I wanted. It would probably be smarter to Extract with a negative value!

awesum man , looks like i will be a regular here…

I just watched your video that you posted…and…
you sir are AMAZING to watch as you are sculpting…
its like I can’t take my eye’s off the screen and thats no BS
hey just telling it like it is … lol
thats the kind of high I can dig all day
Thx for posting this one and all your other Vid’s
Lou

This is great, FB. I really like your approach to your stuff. Everyone should take a look at your timelapses. Thanks for posting!

thanks for checkin’ out my thread, tyrellcorp!

Lou Mareno: Thanks a ton for the kind words, man! I really appreciate it!

Intervain: Thanks a bunch! Always loved your work, so it’s really awesome to hear the encouragement!

Montecristo: Thanks, dude!! Geeze I missed your awesome sweater breakdown, I’m excited to try that out now that I’ve done knitting the weird way

Rakan: thanks a ton, man! I appreciate it

For whatever reason, I decided to do a daydreamer girl in cold clothing just weeks after I did that ice cream girl! I thought i’d try out some ideas for using Micromesh on the scarf and hat. As usual, I tried to do it all in Zbrush. Hope you dig it!!!

daydreamer.jpg

(I did a timelapse too if you’re interested, hopefully it’s not too confusing!)

I also got hit up a few times because the timelapse goes over the hat portion too fast :frowning:
So maybe this will make more sense!

That’s the coolest time-lapse video I’ve seen so far. I’m impressed with how much detail you can get with micromesh that quickly. I’m going to have to experiment with it now. Thanks for sharing it. :D:+1:

Cool:+1:
