fun with zbrush

World lighting:
Why don’t you join the http://blenderartists.org/forum/index.php ?
Lot of tutorials and help. Let’s not forget that cycles is under rapid development, lot of things gonna change. There’s already an experimental patch for volume shader (SSS)

I like your style!

The first thumbnail I noticed (lol)
I knew that it was your beautiful sculpting style and a cycles render. :+1:
You gonna need some kind of retopology + UVs soon. To transfer displacement maps and painting. Even my favorite quasi auto-retopo method, it’s great and easy for still renders.

Hi Kokoro

Hey…Beautiful lighting on that bust that your working on posted above. Goes good with the model, which is also Great…Nice job Man…:+1:small_orange_diamond:)
Glenn

whoops, sorry i did not notice i got replies to my post :o

asecbrush, thanks
michalis, hi thanks ! i am so very grateful you made me aware of cycles. i really love this render engine, and, i love the nodes for creating materials. i feel like in heaven  … yes, retopo, this is next step. … but in moment i am exploring the new zbrush additions, so much fun (for too little spare time…lol)
spiritdreamer, thanks  … its not “man” btw

ok, as said, i am playing and learning fibers  … and, i thought it would be a nice idea to revisit a model i did with the previos fibres in zbrush, johnny from post 110, and try to get him more like he really looks, a little worn out from much love  … so here he is, model and fur in zbrush, then exported to blender, scene set in blender and rendered with cycles…

Hi Kokoro,

Nice look and render, The hair is well done!

Looks as though he is sitting on ice, I hope his bottom doesn’t get cold.

Cheers, David

hi david, oh, don’t worry, his fur is very warming  …lol…

yes, as the title says… modeled in zbrush, rendered with cycles…

saint_matthew_new_render.jpg

Oh my, that is exceptional! Just exquisite sculpt and render. The draping adds an extra dimension! Bravo! This is my favorite of your work! Cheers, David

thanks david ! … i am happy with this too, even though i know i want learn some things better in blender/cycles. i love the way i can control lights, and materials in this program … zbrush does not deliver the obj-files as well as it should to blender, one obj came in consisting of more than 40 parts, what a mess … lol … anyhow, very glad you enjoy

WELL DONE!
Bravo! Excellent sculpting, rendering.

zbrush does not deliver the obj-files as well as it should to blender, one obj came in consisting of more than 40 parts,

This is weird, I never had such a problem.
ZB delivers excellent obj files for blender use. (you have to inverse UVs vertically of course)
How have you textured this? Are there Uvs, low poly subdivided, decimation master, etc. Such informations could help.

Hi Kokoro

Beautiful end result on this last piece posted.:+1:…Excellent sculpting and rendering skills there Lady.:+1:small_orange_diamond:)
Luv seeing these Master studies.:+1:
Johnny came out looking great also by the way…looks soft and worn out with much love…
Keep Inspired and Inspiring.:+1:small_orange_diamond:)

Glenn

thanks michalis  … the mesh that came in in many parts was the face+body mesh. it is created in zbrush starting from a lowpoly sphere and subdivided. i had added edgeloops for better polygonflow. and, i have removed parts of the mesh, so it is an “open” mesh, open at the bottom (unvisible in render)… the meshes are not very highpoly (exept the feathers), so i did not use decimationmaster. there are no uv’'s made by me. the texture is created in material in blender using “camera” and not uv, like you showed in one of your posts. … since i had this twice already, i reallly would like to understand what is going on. probably, i am doing a newbee mistake when exporting/importing. but i cant see what can go wrong, as i never touched any of import/export settings.

thank you glenn  yes, i love study the old masters. they have so much to teach. you can never go wrong spending time looking very closely, always so many exciting things to explore

as i never touched any of import/export settings.

hm… do me a favor, open these settings and disable groups exporting. Just a thought.

yes !! now it came in as just one mesh ! great, thanks a lot, michalis

Love this guy’s expression. Is that hair done with 4r2b or is it post?

hi tyler, you mean hair on johnny ? yes, this is made with the new hair in z4r2b, and exported the meshes (three for the whole fur) into blender for rendering. worked really great

totally love the work of the “calling of saint matthew - new render”
It definently seems that you are having fun with zbrush and thats one of the most importants things.
Love the sculpt and how the render turned out. Could imagine that on my desk^^
Looking forward seeing more from you,
Cheers,
Kenny:)
