great work my friend, you have a great talent
SplatterDynaFantastic!!!
Great Great Great Fracture!
Thanks a lot my friends!
The contest is close, and it was an incredible opportunity to improve all of us, thanks to make it possible !
I got some stuff to post about Chassern
I spent time to find a good solution for the pose… using simply zsphere chains to pose simple figures seems the best way to figure out gravity, and characters interaction…

Great work mate!!!
The final composition turned out great. The head is clearly visible.
Congrats and good luck with the contest.
Thank you very much JUPITER, RamRam
My version of skeletor, still in progress
Cu
Very nice Skeletor, great desing and shapes.
But, but, but…
Kyashan is totally A W E S O M E ! ! !
all my respect.
Those videos were really helpful man. I love watching how other people use ZBrush.
great!!
This turned out better than I imagined. Great work re-creating the 2D into 3D and keeping the style and proportions.
@Cherea : thank you mate!!!
@Daconia: thanks! i’m glad you appreciated the vids.
@filoppo: thank you !!!
@Aberrant: Thanks!
Killer use of 2.5d. Very inspiring. Watching the videos, I noticed that you were painting highlights with a material. Do you make your own matcaps or have a set, so all the lighting matches? Or do you use standard materials? The lighting is great in this scene.
Skelator is killer too. Is that also a ZBrush canvas or a psd, etc?
Thank you jamespthornton
I used only 4 materials in the scene:
I used the “sketchsunup” material found on Pixo’s website, i modified it into 3 versions, the first i decreased cavity detection and transition, and i placed it over Casshern and the dog.
For the second i added a reflection shader, cloned from “reflected map” material (s1), and i used it for the Robot; the last one was made by adding specular with hi falloff on the same mat, and i used this one for the robot red “buttons”, some parts of the dog… i used this one to paint material on the skretches too, you can see over the ruined metal of the robot,notice these parts shining in the turntable, and on the blood over Casshern hands…
When i placed the model in 2.5 i painted additional colors and materials. The glowing eyes and incandescent effects was made painting “glow” std material, i only changed color, eliminated specular, ambient.
To give more light , once i baked the layers,i used to paint over with single layer brush, max size with soft intensity and round blurred alpha, color bright yellow.
I used “shading enhancer” to obtain some color variations, and hilighter to lead the eye.
I hope it can be helpful
Skeletor is rendered in Zb using the same old material of the robot, then i used photoshop to enhance the image, cloning and blending layers similar to Bulgarov workflow…but it’s still a wip, i use it to do some critical tests
This is a close up of his head, i tried to do a differnt shape from a human skull to an animal one… and a differnt cap …
See you!

Very cool. I enjoy this same workflow. 2.5d is interesting. There was a time when I thought I would swear by it.
I’ve learned modo now. However, after all that, I still think rendering in ZBrush is fun. It’s painterly, not as mathematical. I got a few w.i.p.'s that are good candidates, might finish them this way. Thanks for the reminder.
Have you ever tried rendering with standard materials? You might have fun with them. They have many more modifiers, and allow more control over lighting since it isn’t baked in. You’ve got the right idea with modifying one matcap into a set so the lighting matches. In some ways, that’s a better approach. Less can be more
New sculpt is bad@$$.
Hey fracture! I saw this sketchbook long time ago, when there weren’t as much stuff Really enjoyed leafing through it
really nice work man. love your hard surface modeling you did for Death Head. all great stuff Keep it up!
Hi, another up

That is awesome! Loving the detail!
thanks Capa!
