Final Squidlien - For Now !

Hey Richie,
I don’t have time to do an eye tutorial right now but here’s a link to a thread by my friend Colin (he’s a make up fx guy too !). If you scroll down you’ll see some nice tutorial stuff on eyes ! Hope this helps !

i was waiting for the tutorial, thanks for the link, excellent !

If anyone’s interested in trying to get the best eyes and followed Prosthetix’s tutorial you may find it handy to do the following - Once you have some ‘kickin art’ happening on your main sphere click ‘mask by intensity’ in the masking menu. Then using a donut shaped alpha (alphas 05,09,26 or your own custom version) drag out from the centre of the sphere with the inflate brush using dragrect stroke (experiment with different intensity) and hopefully you’ll get those details to pop and catch light in a way that makes the iris less flat. Obviously theres lots of approaches to making eyes in zbrush but if it seems like I’m trying to re-invent the wheel, I’m just trying to get the best results with the fewest renders. These ones were just a single render with the transparent option ‘on’ and a little nudge with levels in photoshop.
Hope this helps someone !

hi Si,
love your tweak on the technique & thanks for the link , i wondered why my cyclops just got resurrected !! im going off to make eyes again !!

Col !

No probs ! we’re all heading in the same direction, right ? Why not pick up hitchers - unless they’re Rutger Hauer !!!

yes hes far too heavy !!

Thank you both very much… Huge help!
So, the only way that your are getting the outer layer (the cornea) to be transparent is to render it?

Sixxpixels

  • You can do renders with a specular material and composite it later in photoshop or you can use the transparent option on the right hand side of your zb canvas and fill different parts of the eye with different materials. The latter is what I prefer - the less layer composites I have to do later the better !

Great work man!

Love everything from the colors to the amazing skin texture!

This one is a 2 layer comp in photoshop.

Hi Siweb, Thanks for the info, I will give it a shot. Colin’s Cyclops is awesome ! I know you’re swamped with work and stuff. Much appreciated ! I have some Polypainting questions I would like to throw your way as well ? When you have the time .

Thanks,

Richie A. :+1:

Hey all !
Just a quick re-visit to this old troll dude. Threw a hat on him and started sketching in some skin details - work in progress !

I am gonna try and recreate my immediate reaction through text:

Love him man, he is just brilliant, original and you know, just plain awesome.

The Gentleman Troll looks cool! :+1:

Thanks guys!
Gonna rebuild the tusks, hat and specs eventualy, they’ve been pulled around so much they’ve lost some of the solid form they started with.

it turns out great man  are you planning to tackle the body too ?

Nico-
Thanks, Still needs lots of work though. No- I already have a full body version but I wanted to do something more suitable for 3d printing (like your troll/orc guy) Desktop size !
