FIber mesh fun

Wyatt, Yes I used alphas that I made,it may even be one that I posted long ago here on ZBC in a thread called monstermakers old man. I usually divide the tool as much as I can then use an alpha with the drag rect stroke.

Kenny, I used both started with Zspheres then turned into dynamesh.

Blaine, who’s the weather up there?

…reflecting inside the eyes of this big mouse, i believe there is not alone!

Hey do any of you guys know what this is that I am starting?

Hi Rick, I’m not sure, but he feels to me like the old phantom of the opera character?

looks a bit more Quasimodo-esque to me.

Is it the Dick Smith take on Dorian Gray?

It’s new Zombie-on-a-Stick! Now with creamy eye nougat!

Looks like Dick Smith’s Dorian Gray from 1961. Wow I’m a nerd! This is gonna be great.

I was also thinking Phantom of the old days. The supports have me curious tho…

looks like me in a bad hangover. :stuck_out_tongue:

defenetly gray looks. nice start !

I can see how one would think that this could be the start of a Phantom or a hunchback but Ken B you were the first one to call it. Long time since we spoke and since you have posted . Hope you are well.
Bryan I am impressed with your nerdom. not only did you guess it right you knew the year.
I figured most of the guys here were too young to know the classic Dick Smith Dorian Gray.
Ever since i first used ZSketch I thought to myself that it would be great to do the waxy blobs on Dicks Dorian Gray head so I am finally doing one.
Got out my old Famous Monsters and started building this in ZB much like Dick did with plasticine and mortician’s wax. Could help doing an early work in progress version.
I try and post a more finished one later today

OK here he is a bit more finished and looking more like him.

great stuff. Thanks for sharing your work process.

fantastic work rick buddy, that is some creepy monster!:+1:
Totally digging the new update with the zsketch on it, looking forward to the end result!
Cheers,

  • Kenny:)

Hi Rick,

Am guessing it’s the great Lon Chaney? Shaping up great!

Awesome at the moment. Spring here just materializes one day and the winter is over. Brutal winter however. All time record snowfall and half the days were below normal, so spring fever is epidemic now. Only about two feet of snow left in my yard and melting fast. OK, I’m rambling again. Good to see your work around again.

Its cool to hear your process. Love how the sculpt is turning out so far. I;m not familiar with the movie but I’m going to look for it!

Also, I got a box of the Famous Monster magazines handed down to me years ago, they are my favorite thing in the world. I remember them from when I was little, id get one or two at the comic shop, if i was good lol. But I really like going through them. I dont remeber all the movies but most of them I do remember. I like the ideas a lot for the creatures from back in the day its what inspired me to start using Zbrush and making my own creatures. I mean I’m looking at Kirk Douglas in hand to hand combat with the robot from Saturn 3. Man that was a cool design for a robot imo. Anyway, you said monster mags and I got all nostalgic, lol.

Getting closer to finishing him .I am about ready to put his hair on ,which I suppose I should do since this thread is called fiber mesh fun. I was just playing around with different ways to render him and messing with the BPR filters.
Jason this was actually done for a TV production. If you google Dick Smith Dorian Gray there might be something.

Impressive work Rick.
Takes me back to sculpting in DAS clay back in the 70’s and copying creatures from the pages of FMOF.
Good times.
Dan.
