Experi-mental Sketchbook

Metin many thanks , the colors were indeed more saturated back then tis true.
Over the recent years the flickering light of coastal Scotland has definitely influenced my palette.

Creating scenes from lit forms that seem painted with a soul eye and less a material eye interests me as does texturing with light as opposed to material surface. The color becoming more a tint to that I guess.

Many thanks Aurick , you’ve been a rock these years.
Yeah v1.55b , I still get dewy eyed . It changed my life.

Pygmalion , lovely to see you again Sir and delighted to read in your thread that you feel inspired. May the Divine Muses stroke the hair from your eye, guide your hands and feed you candy-cotton strands for every duck you hit.

Yours etc,
Boozy

Moles that can dig it to classic 60’s Soul are my kind of moles.

Thanks for peeping,

Your works of art are ideal for the enjoyment of good music!
My mind can dip into your pictorial worlds. That’s so awesome!

(I thought of Neil Diamonds “Beautiful Noise” immediately.)
Wonderful!

Ciao,
TM

Thank you Ronald,
I trust my deep anatomical research of Moles also came through in this piece

As my memory serves me correctly it was one tool to create all the peculiar geometry , a snake brush to shatter it and a clone brush to krenkymalenky it, whatever krenkymalenky is?!!

Usually when the world looks as it does in this picture One is intoxicated, bedazzled and seconds away from unconsciousness.

I have blown up some geometry on import to zbrush ,and achieved that krenkymalenky look, but I never quite managed to
make something beautiful out of it .
once again your creativity gives us all a treat .
Ps I believe the moles in my back yard groove to Otis Redding . :sunglasses:

Mark, it’s just great! Amazing work! I love everything that you do.
But this… It is inspiring and spiritually! Thank You!

Hi Boozy, Your work never fails to please!

All the best, David

Beautiful work. Gorgeous, original. I love seeing the imaginative ways an artist like yourself takes this medium in new, creative directions.

Excelsior!

beautifier: someone who creates beauty out of that which others consider to be failures.

As for the music: my guess is Papa Was A Rolling Stone by the Temptations. Long version of course.

‘This Fragile Earth’

this-fragile-earth_larger.jpg

Completed in 2.5D using layers, textured using the directional brush using alphas .

Thanks for the kind comments to my previous post, much appreciated.

Yours etc with snowflakes,

Another classic! Your designs have a timeless quality to them.

I love it! This is my favorite work among your last creations. Would love to see this as a (3D-printed) statue as well.

Sadicus your kind words have made me very happicus . A delight to hear from you, my best wishes.

Dear Metin Pepernoot ( inventor of the the joyously radiating Garfield ) thank you most kindly and best wishes of the season to you Sir.

Your journey goes on, thank you!
A journey through the parallel universes of the human psyche.

I read that in a book by Dan Simmons. Things that we create in our mind become real in other worlds.

Fascinating!

TM

All the best wishes to you too, Boozy, and a very productive 2017!

as original as it is great.

but beware!

‘If your Snark be a Snark, that is right:
Fetch it home by all means–you may serve it with greens,
And it’s handy for striking a light.’

‘But oh, beamish nephew, beware of the day,
If your Snark be a Boojum! For then
You will softly and suddenly vanish away,
And never be met with again!’

A 2.5D geometry painting.
‘Night Alive’

night-alive-for-web_900px.jpg

First began during a sea storm that raged overhead in February - reopened and completed this December.

Drawn with a spindly spiky geometry brush whilst adjusting the width and depth of the brush depending on stroke mode. Much use of drawing multiple strokes without lifting the mouse then pressing w (move mode) to transform and or snapshot copies.

yours seasonly,
Boozy

Thank you Ronald for for your convivial spoons of kindness from which I have supped this past year. “With our thoughts we create the world” indeed.

Metin many thanks with cinnamon sprinkles and a liberal sugar dusting.
On a seasonal note, it thrills me that in Holland Santa Claus departs by boat via Rotterdam once all his errands are done. Back he sails to his art nouveau apartment in Madrid for fine wines and the welcoming arms of his toymaiden harem.

Erik , thank you most kindly and some Carroll for Christmas too , perfect.
I’ll take Carroll over wassailing any day.

‘Good Things Come To Those That Wait’

good-things-come-2016.jpg

This ZBrush 2.5D piece was first posted on this forum many moons ago - a low resolution relic from the salad days of 56k modems.

The latter part of the year is a good time for looking backward as well as ahead and having recently scribbled a memorandum with regard creative avenues I wish to explore further with Zbrush for the year ahead I realized that this early 2.5D piece hinted at a regressive itch I intend to scratch progressively.

As artists we like to imagine we are moving forward but looking backwards we see that our beginnings are always worthy of reconnection.

Yours Auld Lang Syne-ingly with best wishes,
Boozy

Hahahaha! The Grumpy Cat really completes it!
