Etcher, do not know how you do it but you make the complex look real simple. You truly are an artist in the whole sense.
Thanks once again for showing you work flow. It opened my eyes to even more ideas.
Still working on my PaintStop addiction.
Would you know of a real good book or reference for human anatomy for artist? Prefer the female form.
Rhaaaa!
Man! your work is so amazing! it’s frustrating for me to see so much talented work without having time to work on ZB too…
I will need your help for all the new stuffs as i’ve spent so much time far away from my favourite software!
Congrats for your work!
how’s the family and the house renovation?
Geert, started today on the sand skimmer. installed 3.5 late last night, should have somthing to show soon.
Hey etch, great work with the zsphereII structure, you rock.
Hey buddy, just managed to get my activation working and the first thread I visit is yours and how cool to find your instructions and awesome progress. Thanks pal.I’ve alot to learn but you have simplified the process for me a great deal. Thanks again.Inspiring to see how well you have brought your creature to life todate with the new cool tools in such a belivable formed way.Always looking forward to more from you, best wishes.

Hey Etcher, heh heh heh – youre absolutely right. She likes it SO much. :) But now I
m going to practice with the planar brushes. Need them for making some weapons.
Talk to you soon! Can`t wait to see your next update.
Renderdemon: thanks Guiseppe! I’m So glad u like! I’m looking forward to see what you’ll do with the new ZSpheres! Thanks for dropping me a line- so motivating !
Yfchild: thank you!!! Wow, new Andrew Jones… way to much credit man – I would love to be as good as he is… maybe some day! Many thanks for the kind words friend!
Burchigb: thanks for the great comment and kind words – so motivating! I’m glad the sheets are of some use to you. Quote:”Would you know of a real good book or reference for human anatomy for artist? Prefer the female form.”
These are the books I always seem to come back to
Human anatomy by Gottfried Bammes:
“Die Gestallt des Menschen” ISBN 3-473-48378-8
“Studien zur Gestalt des Menschen” ISBN 3-363-00761-2
“Menschen zeichnen” ISBN 3-363-00720-5
“Arbeitsbuch zur Künstleranatomie” ISBN 3-473-48374-5
Animal anatomy by Gottfried Bammes:
“Grosse tieranatomie” ISBN 3-473-48366-4
“Studien zur Gestallt des Tieres” ISBN 3-473-48342-7
These books are only available in German (not a problem for me) but they are without a doubt the best references on constructive anatomy.
Medical anatomy:
Human Male V.3 – www.anatomytools.com
CD-ROM “Sobotta – Atlas der Anatomie des Menschen” V. 3.0 R. Putz and R.Pabst ISBN 9789031130009
Human and animal locomotion:
“The Human Figure in Motion” (E. Muybridge) ISBN 0-486-20204-6
“Human and Animal Locomotion Vol III” (E. Muybridge) ISBN 0-486-23794-X
“The Animator’s Survival Kit” (R. Williams) ISBN 0-571-20228-4
HTH!
(and don’t forget I warned you on that PaintStop thingy… should’ve listened… )
Yona: hey man, thank you! Yes, the new ZSpheres are very interesting! Quote:”” frustrating, maybe, but you’ll have fresh eyes and ideas when you get back to ZB and TTM! I’m already looking forward to the stream of updates! You know you can count on me to help you out with the new stuff (although I doubt it that you’ll need my help!). Regarding my house renovations: they are coming to an end (phew!)- but now my wife is bringing up that she would like a new bathroom too… ). Anyways, busy times at work, so, probably less time on ZB for me too!
Threetails: that’s great news Cam! I’m so looking forward to see how your initial tests will turn out. I’m experimenting with Adaptive Skins right now, as opposed to Unified Skins to get cleaner topo. I’ll post my findings tomorrow! This new stuff couldn’t have come at a better moment for us!
Mutte696: thanks Maarten! Thanks for the motivating comment! quote: “(translated) Geert, you really have too much spare time, impressive to see how you manage to find the time to make mini “making-offs”, and give your fellow sculptors a chance to get to know your techniques. I wish I had more time to make a decent wip, respect for your work man)". This thread is a personal journal of my ZBrush experiments. I really need to make these pages (I print them out too for later reference); if I don’t do this, I end up with a huge pile of files on a hard drive that’ll never see the light of day… that’s the simple and honest truth!
Calum5ZB: so many kind words! Thank you friend! I am glad these sheets are giving you a kickstart –thank you so much for letting me know! It takes a bit of time to let the new stuff sink in, but it’ll be very rewarding, I am really looking forward to see what you come up with!
moni-poroni: hah! I knew it! ! Hey girl, you made me curious with that stuff about weapons! Me wants to see! (I might pick up a few things; I still have to model Axl’s weapons too!) So, the same goes for me: talk to you later, and can’t wait to see your updates!
!
Experimenting with adaptive skinning (instead of unified skinning)– hope to post the results tomorrow!
Hi all! .
Posting the remaining sheets on my ZII testings.
These sheets are a follow up to the ones I posted a few pages back and complete the testing on the Tenebrae.
oh etcher, you are an inspiration for us all
I don’t know what to say! I’m utterly stunned by the effort you’re putting in here!
Thank you!!
great! etcher thanks for sharing
once more brilliant and very inspirational
Geert, man this is great! I got my email from Pixo minutes after my last post here it’s been a hectic week, but thanks to this I gave it a good try already, quick tests only. Your process is great, really nice idea, I shall use it asap! Danke
Thanks for showing us how you managed to repair the projection issues.I was building up forms and running into the same problems dispite the sub level increments thus dumping my work.Atleast I can move on again…Thats about the 30th thankyou ,now I wonder why your efforts are as yet to be featured on disc for sale.Im assuming your related to Santa Claus…ha ha…Catch you again soon ,cal
Thank you etcher, the muscle structure looks fantastic and the rigging with the zspheres armature is the best feature i ever seen… i think i wiil make a body template to have fun and create dinamic poses for my sculpts, thank you again for your tests, the retopo over the Zsketch is the better choice…
Great man!
Etcher, you can explain sooo well and you have also fantastic sculpting and painting skills. There aren`t many people that can do both. You should become a Zbrush teacher!
Hey girls and guys! Sorry for the late reply, but things are hectic at work and at home – will be better next week!
konjo kothar vignar: thank you very much for the motivating comment!
Dustbin1_uk: hey Mark, thanks for the great comment and you’re welcome! Hope the latest ZII sheets can be of some use to you!
Schiefer: thank you and you’re welcome! Hey man, I’m looking forward to your new stuff- I hope it will contain some ZII experimenting!
Ville: thanks Daniel! I posted these pages hoping that some people might benefit / get kick started with the new ZII’s – so thanks a lot for letting me know they were useful! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
Calum5ZB: thanks for the ongoing support Cal! Always motivating for me to read you got some benefit out of the test sheets. I’m still not sure which method works best for me, I think I’ll probably go for the unified skin/retopo combo – we’ll see… .Quote:” now I wonder why your efforts are as yet to be featured on disc for sale.I’m assuming your related to Santa Claus…” such a nice comment! A disc…who knows, maybe some day… .Santa Claus… nope – no relation… just givin’ back to the community!
Fracture: hi Giorgio, thank you so much for the great comment! Yeah, when this guy is finished, I’ll change the rig and add legs to use as a template too – it’ll be great when sketching out poses like you suggested. I’m looking forward to see what you come up with – you should’ve had access to ZII’s when you did the fracture sculpt- would’ve been a blast to pose!
Moni-Poroni: that’s such a nice thing to say moni! Thank you! But I’m afraid I’m still too new to all this digital stuff… need to get waaaay better – but we’ve got time, right? Right now, I’m prepping the sheets for a print-out on real sketching paper, I think it’ll be fun to actually be able to hold a copy of my Etcher-Sketcher journal
Thanks Etcher great update, the print out will be a very cool document, funny how it changes its meaning when it becomes real physical object, until then you are just an electron artist. Just bought a wacom so been playing and now after reading your post I’m off to alt shift, and find out why I should press make unified skin or adaptive skin instead of Make a Polymesh3D.
Don’t know if you’ve already seen this but just in case.
Support says: TIP In order to get the most efficient unified skin from ZSketch , try the following procedure…
- Set Unified SDiv to zero, and adjust the Resolution slider as low as you can while still getting the major shapes visible in the preview skin.
- When done with the above step, increase the SDiv level as high as you need in order to get the fine details visible in the preview skin.
- When done, press the “Make Unified Skin”. (Make sure to use the “Make Unified Skin” button, not the Make PolyMesh3D button)
If done correctly, you’ll end up with a low resolution mesh at the first sub division level with high frequency details at higher subdivision levels.
A print out! Cool! Let me know if this is something we can all get, I’m sure I would love to get a copy!
Knap werk man !
(Love your style !)
