Cool. Thanks for sharing your techniques btw. I hope to give PaintStop a proper spin when I get chance
Hey Etcher. It is great to see you doing updates and helping everyone out again. Share the knowledge and all that stuff
Also congrats on getting your work in the paintshop video they obviously know the talents ones over at ZB headquarters
hi etcher
very impressive stuff you have here!
you know how to draw and sculpt!
it took me quite a while to read most of the thread here but i had to because it is very impressive, inspiring and different to many other threads
looking forward to see some more
cool updates Geert !
one thing I noticed:
the direction of his collarbone(s) are rather strange imo ( pointing downward )
The non spoken rule for a male = v-shape
and for a female = rather straight or a slightly v-shape.
Keep it up.
Hey Etcher,
On the PaintStop dream… unfortunately it was a very uncreative dream. No cool ideas. But I saw some cool creatures and monsters as I
ve been walking with the dogs this afternoon. Umm, no worries ;), I don
t have any halluZinations grin. Ive been watching the clouds and sometimes you can see REALLY astounding things. "So, Moni, where’s the update?" OK *LOL*, looks like times have changed and YOU are the one who
s pushing ME now. Tit for tat. Touchè!
For some reason -whenever I have holidays- I have LESS time. The same goes for the weekends. UNFAIR!
Ive been spending a lot of time on practising how to retopologize meshes. Not fun. :) I always thought I don
t need to focus on things like that because Zbrush is just a hobby but while Ive been working on the horse I had some serious problems with sculpting in some areas because the mesh was a mess. I realized that a good topology is very important. Delayed brainZtorm. Kind of. :bulb:small_orange_diamond:) I
ve already started painting something but itll take a while until I
ll post it. Today Ill work further on Humpatiki. Can
t wait to see your next update. Are you working on the 3D AXL, too?
I love what you`re doing with the stencil. Many thanks for posting!
It was really cool to see how you made those last few sketches using the stencil. Great work as always!
Captain Sensible: thanks again Chris! Yeah man, you gotta’ make time to try out PaintStop, looking forward to see what you come up with!
Scottleroc: yep, finally, updates! Thanks for the awesome compliment man! Scott, I’m a bit late with this but: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Looking forward to seeing some works made with your “Pixologic Birthday Present”!
schiefer: thanks for taking the time to drop me a line man! Thank you for the great compliment! I just noticed that you started your sketchbook thread on ZBC: looks like an awesome start man – better watch out not to become a ZBC addict like me!
Lucky_1: thanks man! On the collar bone thing: I now how it should be, but I am trying out a specific silhouette-posture thing with this guy; in post 283, on the third sheet I wrote:clavicles angled down purposely and on the eight sheet I wrote:” the clavicle bones are angled down way too much, but that’s a conscious decision: this has to do with the silhouette I’m going for on this guy; I want him to be muscular, but not to broad-shouldered or athletic. We’ll see if it works out ok on the sculpt” So: we’ll see if it works! Thanks for stopping by Luc!
Moni poroni:well, that’s a great thing about holidays: maybe less Ztime, but plenty of time to reload the (creative) batteries. Oh, before I forget: welcome to retopo heaven! (check out Eric Artman’s Wise Ones from time to time:retopo art!). Looking forward to seeing ante & post retopo pics.Yeah, 3D Axl’s in the pipeline!
Marsyas: thank you Geoff! More stencil work to come!
With a touchpad…with a touchpad!!!
Awesome!!! You can almost feel the finger application of more clay on some of the models… very nice
Love the reverse engineered anatomy

Thank you very much for the Birthday greeting Etcher, very nice of you.
Your new piece is VERY awesome. What a great idea. Love the style.
The PaintStop plugin is great and it is wonderful to see what everyone is coming up with. Me on the other hand I am really just happy to be using the pencil which behaves like a pencil so I have only really done some very quick sketches so far.
Will you go back to 3d to finish this piece?
how do u do this sir???
beautifull…the only problem is i m not able do such master peices in paint stop…but tring hard…
thank u for showing ur techniques andf howz axel doin…are u goin to continue him…
again beautifull
Wow, really interesting creature. Those double-styled wings and tail really add something
Awsome work Etcher…
my comment was quite useless then …
anyway great job on the sphinx like creature !
RawSunlight: yeah… a touchpad… and that was because at the time I thought a Wacom was nothing for me (when I bought my first laptop, I thought a touchpad was nothing for me…) thanks for the awesome comment man!
Scottleroc:Scott, I’m so glad you like the new piece! As you can see in the update below, I’m gearing up to getting this one sculpted; he’s part of Axl’s world too. Gotta’ get Axl done first though… . On PaintStop: make sure to spend some time with it on a regular basis, it’ll be so rewarding!
Neozerahan: thanks for the great comment Zain! PaintStop is great! No worries Zain: time is on your side and you have the right attitude: you will do fine. On Axl: yes, of course I will continue him, but his world keeps growing in my mind, and I had to let this stuff out first to ease the pressure!
Captain Sensible: thank you Chris! (double styled wings/tail: this shows us how contemporary the old masters are!)Let’s see if I can take it a bit further… .
DELTATHUND3R: thank you! Thanks for taking the time to drop me a line: motivating!
Lucky_1: no sweat Luc, I’m always glad you take the time to check out my works and drop me a line ! Glad u like the new one!
This has to be one of the coolest threads I have seen in a long time. Really makes me want to open up ZBrush and have fun. Great job
Etcher looks like your going nuts with paintstop, hope to have time to give it a whirl myself in the next few days. Cool stuff
