May the 4th be with you.

After a couple of print failures. I have been running the printers nonstop since Sunday.

Here’s the part breakdown for the body.

It’s coming along slowly. This is 4 days of continuous printing.

How does that feel to see it coming all alive? Thanks for sharing!

It’s starting to feel pretty good.
I have spent days preparing models for printing. It’s not as fun as just modeling and sculpting. It’s all part and parcel to getting it into the physical world. There is an amazing sense of accomplishment when I see the part printed.

Here are last of the major parts printed.

I had to reprint the structural frame for a better fit. It is a 22 hour print. It will be done by 6PM tonight.

The filing, sanding and gluing is about to begin. Or “fun” as Paul calls it.

Thanks for following along.

hohoho  this looks awesome!

I had to stop to clean up the shop. Now that I have some clear benches, I started fitting the prints together.

Thanks for looking.

Very cool! It’s looking great!

I’ve been taking my time but it’s been a slower process than I thought. I’ve glued, filled and sanded the body.

Clamping in some areas were difficult. But magnets are our friends.

Word of caution. Move anything steel away from your model. The magnets I used are strong enough to grab them from a distance. Also make sure to have a good grip on them.
The body is finished. All the greeblies are glued on.

Here’s the progress on the head. Again, magnets are our friends. This allows me to get inside the head.

More magnets.

Thanks for looking at this chronicle of fun.

I attached the head to the body. It weighs about 5 lbs. The legs are going to add another 15 to 20 lbs.

Hi,
Wonderful job
Is it possible to download the 3D somewhere?

Thank you. Welcome to the community.

No, there won’t be a model available for download.

OK no problem.
Good continuation in your realization.

It’s been some time since I’ve had anything to update. Life sometimes just gets in the way.
This is not in Zbrush. But it is part of getting the project to completion.
The legs have been sitting in a pile on my bench.

That was the moment, I remembered I had knocked this leg off the bench and now needed to do some repair.
Everything was going to be taken apart anyway for painting.

I discovered or I should say reminded that the ankle joints were binding. There were a couple of shims as well to help with the fit.
image
I already filed the mounting holes as big as I could make them and there still were alignment problems. I figured it was faster to re-mil the ankles.

It took some filing. No, that’s not my blood.
image
All the parts for one leg are primed.

Three more to go.

Thanks for looking
